Need this part for 06 zx14....

When taking off my fairing today i noticed that the round rubber piece that a bolt goes through (up near the fly's area) was pretty gummed up on both sides. Where can I get this part from?

To clarify it's a larger allen head bolt that goes into this rubber piece. The rubber piece that the bolt goes into pops into place.

I hope you guys know what im talking about...if not i can post pics.

Also, if you have a part number that would be great.

Thanks,
Abe

If it"s the one i"m thinking of i taped over the holes and left the bolt out. I didn't want a torn well nut to fall into the airbox and haven't ordered new ones yet.

That's what I was going to say, the consequences of bits of well-nut inside the airbox could be severe. Don't take a chance, just buy a new pair.

One of mine did fall in when I was trying to get it out. I am not looking forward to ripping the tank off again. I am going to try to get the piece out with a good magnet today.

Got it out this morning. Definetly a very unsafe situation. Does your fairing stay put without that nut holding it on? I'm gonna run over to the hardware store and get some ideas on this one.

Nothing at the hardware store worked. So I ordered two new ones. If there fresh I don't see any reason why they would be a problem, but definetly an issue for guys who like to take there fairings off often.

my fairing stays on, it just looks a little wierd. don't overtighten the bolt and the rubber should last awhile.

As bigdtd says order the well nuts from desmoparts.com. I ordered six of them so when they start to break down I can just replace them. They are 70 cents each from desmoparts.com and not 2.50-3.00 each from the dealer.
