Removing the flies on the 08 and up does not do much as they open very fast now when you open the throttle. Any gains will be down low in the rpm range. I have riddin one with the flies removed and a proper map made, and it was very jerky and not very refined in the low rpm range.

Removing the flies will not affect peak HP.

With a good map it is not jerky at all. My '08 has the flies removed and a Brock's CT Meg with the appropriate map and it is fine. And while there is not a gain in horsepower down low really, part throttle and roll on in the lower rev range is improved. It doesn't feel neutered any more.

Agreed. Leave them in. I've done it 4 times now, each time with dyno tuning when in and out....

Your fine torottle response, particularly in turns in 1st or 2nd gears will be gone, for the sake of a little TQ in the 3-4K range. Your (false positive) 'butt dyno' will likely say "WOW"!

Leave them in. Keep your life simple and smoooooth. Make HP/TQ gains else-how.

Here's a dyno sheet if it all:

Dark blue is flies out, Muzzy at 0 (stock timing)

Lt blue is flies out, Muzzy at 4 deg adv, which showed a few HP/TQ loss. I was very surprised at that.

Red is flies in, Muzzy 0 (OEM setup on timing and flies)

pull them and it'll get rid of the herky jerky low end hit. Those who don't race say that it doesn't do anything. those who do all have them out... see a trend?

Pull the flies. Get a map done and go for a long ride on a bumpy road and see how long you like the jerky throttle response at cruising speed from your hand flucuating the throttle over the bumps in the road.Several reviewers and myself have found this to be true. Why would you be going to full throttle at low RPM? Doing so puts unnecessary high loads on bearings etc. Just downshift, open the throttle and blast off into the distance and your motor will thank you in the long run.
My 08 has more power than you can use off the line with the flies in at stock wheel base. If I had an 06 or 07 I probably would remove them because the flies open much slower than the 08's and up. What you have to ask yourself is do you want a refined feel? or more power in low RPM range for some reason?

Pull the flies. I've done about 6 08's and their owners didn't want them back in .
