I don't agree with the every rider goes down comment. Unless you're riding outside of your skill set with your head up your ass. Crashing is avoidable. Keep your head on a swivel and don't think you're invincible. If you have the mindset that you're going to crash... eventually you will.

Well it is possible to never have an incident or even drop your bike in a lifetime of riding motorcycles.
It takes just one moment when the conditions are perfect like a car spinning out and cutting right in front of you and while you are lane splitting.
Sure it's avoidable. But in a situation where things happen in less than a blink of an eye it is up to the rider to be prepared.
But being prepared and a skilled rider with decades of experience helps . Helps a lot but doesn't save you from a situation that goes beyond your control .
I know quite a few old riders and 2 are in their late 50's both have ridden hard their whole life and
In the last few years went down for their 1st time.
One is one of my best friends who had a birthday last week, he turned 72 and never has down since he started riding in the late 60's.
Sure he has stories of when he dropped his bike or lost control cause their were some ladies around lol!
My point is you may never have an accident but at somepoint there will be a situation/s that are almost out of your hands and you may make it unscathed or have to use a
perfectly executed escape plan.

OOh! Ooh! I've got some nasty dirtbike memories, but a lot of good ones too!! I haven't hit the pavement yet........thus far........been riding street for well over 15 years and so far......knock, knock wood.......I'm still upright. Close calls aside, I don't plan on ever goin' down.

Crashing is a way of life on the dirt ! Crashing on the street sucks. My last crash envolved me tumbling on the dirt into a mountain side... That brough back the old memories lol

I have had 4 low speed get offs since 1969 ... One was on the street , one was on the drag strip , one was in my drive way ...The last one was on a dirt bike where i went over a 40 foot cliff ... Not bad for 41 years ..
I'd have to say 3 of the crashes i was riding over my skill level at the time ..

My question is what the most common mistake a inexperienced make that leads to a crash? My first bike was a 1200 and I never came close to a crash or had a close encounter.(knocking on wood)
on the 14, not knowing that it warps the time space continum could be an issue. in other words, it gets going so fast so quickly that you run out of road or room to manuever or avoid objects in your path resulting in crashola.
