I really don't want to lose my right leg

Not an issue! Not at all...

The left leg is a goner though if you screw up that master link!!!

Ah .................... someone DID catch the RIGHT leg comment!

Well it's possible if he looses one leg the other one isn't much safer

If it still bugs you get a 2nd opinion from someone at a local reputable shop.

The one I trusted went out of business because of the economy, not because of his skills.

Actually, I "trust" the people here more.

Especially since they didn't tell me to check my rod bearings .........

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Lol!
Well the rivets only flare so much then they split. If you flared 'em and they don't feel like they're gonna flare any more then just make sure both are flared equally.
Compare the flare to the unflared link you have and see how much you flared.
Even a little bit of a flare is a done deal.
The flare just stops the link from moving if it decides to want to move.
The press fit allows for zero tolerances so any flare will prevent any movement and the link will not come apart unless you grind the flared rivets off.

I was wondering with the spacers do you remove them once the pressing is done?
