Taking out fly's and installing PC3 right now!!!

Running over to hardware store and am going to buy the following

#2 Phillips screwdriver 12 inches long

small propane tank to heat screwdriver tip up with

I also want to install the pc3 ground properly as I have seen other members having issues as of late. How long of a extension should I need in order to reach the battery? 12inches enough?

Also I am running around looking for the thread on how to install PC3...anyone want to be nice and put direct link on this thread? Right side fairing comes off and everything is there correct?

Thanks again for all the help gang. I will take pics...

A 2x4 to prop up the tank. If you strip out the screws you can use some long 90 degree needle nose pliers to loosen them. I stripped out a screw and used a pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers I picked up from O'Reillys.

Blackmamba, it is really easy to take the tank completely off, and since your working on the flies, I would suggest taking it off. If that tank were to slip and fall, how much is a dented tank going to cost?? Wouldn't it be cheaper to take 2.5 min and unplug the tank and sit it off?

My pcIII is tied up against the left snorkel just under the cover -- 3 screws and pop, there it sits -- and for taking the tank off or proppin' it up? Definitely take if off and put it on something soft.......away from where you're working.......out of the reach of children.........and don't leave to go crap in the middle of working on it because one of the kids will walk in the garage and want the stick that's holding up your tank........then you get back from wiping, the tank is back down on top of some wires that got chomped while fuel is trickling from the small puncture left by a few tools laying under the tank........just a lil' advice is all

Fly's are out. I propped the tank up...I would definetly rec'd NOT doing that. No incidents but I was afraid to walk away. Wife was getting a little annoyed every time a tool was outta reach. Tank was full as well! Yikes....

Now on to PC3....

I am having a hell of a time removing the left side fairing. Holy shit are these things welded...slowly but surely.

Also what about the ground? Instructions say to use coolant bolt but it sounds like that could be problematic.

How do I go about resetting throttle? Should I have the bike fully warmed?

Thanks,
Abe

woa..now there's a good father!! I found ALL the apples I got the day before floating in a 5 gal bucket of used motor oil. They also like to kick all the little screws into the lawn... the ones you need..not the fly screws.

Soldered extra wire to ground wire then to battery negative behind throttlebodies. Works fine now.
