shinko drag radial
Just though that I would pass on that i found shinko drag radials on ebay for 140 shipped. I bought one for my dad then called and the guy said that he has 2 left. If anyone is looking for them their phone number is listed below.

adams is selling them for 160 and has a few in stock still. Spencer cycles has been getting 175ish for them. No one else seems to have them though. Apparently they're selling out faster than they can get them in.

Yai have been following them on PB but i get my tires at 1/2 off over here im just waiting for them to get shipped the season does not start for 1 more month over here so i can wait a couple weeks

Really? I thought they were supposed to outlast a M/T by a large margin??
I think the Power One may be the best choice. It should last quite a while, and it is very light as well.
What do you think the advantage of the Shinko is, besides initial cost?

if it hooks like an MCR2 then the advantage will be huge for those of us who run at tracks with crappy prep. From what i've seen the power one doesn't hook any better than the shinko slick does. I think it would be great for land speed, or for street/strip duty... but at twice the price of the shinko you can run 2 really good tires for the price of one above average tire. The new shinko might not even prove to hook much better... but at half the cost it's worth a shot.

I guess if you run at poorly prepped tracks, yeah. But I don't run at a loose track. I mean, "only as good as a shinko slick"...well, the track would have to be pretty bad for that to be an issue.
If the Shinko only lasts as long as a M/T though, the cost is pretty high. Since the Power One can hook on 7.0 second bikes, that tells you it is pretty solid. I paid $217 for my Power One.
All that being said, I might try the Shinko later in the season.  Does anyone know what it actually weighs?

The only thing is that the scale resolution is 4 oz....so it could be just a few ounces difference.

I think this tire will end up in the same price range as the 003. I'm assuming it won't last long because of the soft compound and sidewall. the tire less than a half pound heavier than a power one

The production version is 13 lbs, so the power 1 is lighter. The tracks that those 7 second bikes are hooking on are prepped so that if you walk on it you'll lose your shoes. I've seen our track prepped like that before during funny car events, but normally if you get even slightly out of the groove with a usoft the run is a throw away. I also spin about 1 out of every 5 runs on a usoft with 12 lbs. Whether it be off the line or shifting to 3rd. My possible best pass ever was screwed up that way. 1.43, 3.79, spin for a 6.11 @ 118.

There are many things that affect traction, and the tire is one of them. For now I will stick with the Power One. Perhaps if I ran at the local 1/8th mile track I would try the Shinko.

+1 to the Michelin! I wouldn't go back to the 003. I was like bawls, one out of 6 would spin if you pushed it too hard. The power race dosent spin like that. You might feel it turn the tire half way over every once in a while, but never anything dramatic.

I'd be looking more at your suspension set up before a tire...seen way too many folks claim a tire issue when their bike is set up all wrong to begin with.
What wheelbase are you at? Your times would indicate you don't have too much power.

I could not find any P1 race scuffs so I just ordered a Shinko DR. My P1 probably has close to 100 passes on it and still has tons of life and 60fts great. I wanted to try the Shinko just to see how I liked it.

I'm sitting at 63" slammed with a racetech 13.8kg/in spring (which is what racetech recommended for my weight and length). I definitely need to get my shock re-valved, but it hooks fine if the track is prepped.and the bronze star bikes have traction problems if they run anything but a MCR2 at our track, and they're definitely not lacking anything in their setup, so i seriously doubt that it's just my bike and every single other one at our track.
As for the times... bring that little stock wheelbase bike out to our 4000ft+ track and run you some 6.2-6.3's then talk shit.

Exactly........
I used a MCR on a stock shock, because I had too, on a shitty track.
Went to the U soft shinko, and a fox twin clicker....., went faster.....
Put the MCRs back on........, Went faster.......
The world setting bikes are now all running JRI shocks, that make the penske look like junk. Completely built different from the ground up.
Track prep is key......., only a few of us get to run on tracks prepped that well........
If you have never run on a track that good, or walked onto a NHRA national prepped track, you would not understand........
Time will show how good it is......., everyone was going nuts on the pilot, until norwalks track got crappy last year, then the MCR bikes stood on top........
I am interested to see how they work for sure........

i don't think that it's necessarily a tire problem so much as it is a track problem. Don't worry buddy... I'll be in texas after I get back from deployment. You can get you some then :P. My panties aren't in a wad... I'm just giving you shit for talking noise about times when you're running high 5's in sea level air :P.
