Seriously considering Switching Exhaust. What do you think?

Now that I am stock motor again, I think the Brocks sidewinder is hurting me. If you think i should switch pipes, what do you reccomend?

How do you think it is hurting you?? And why do you think that?

I've had the M14, Shortmeg, CT, and now I'm trying out a TiWinder...

Ok let me correct what I said. We went and had the bike dynoed with the sidewinder and my sponsor had a muzzy system with the oval can. I do not remember what kind it was but the bike gained 11hp with it. I know I will suffer ground clearance but when I asked about it, I was told the sidewinder was too open not making enough back pressure for the stock motor. I was thinking maybe a short meg or something.

11hp with an aftermarket pipe swap?? Seems very unlikely to me. You better make sure the a/f is identical...variances can account for big dyno hp changes. I don't recall anyone losing peak hp by switching to a sidewinder, that's for sure.

On top of that, the ground clearance is a big issue, due to ride height adjustments. As you know, most of your ET is made or lost in the first 330'...where wheelies can really kill you, and your ET.

And that my friend is the only 2 factors keeping me on the sidewinder. I will not be getting ride of it because I am building another nitrous application and my short times right now is my money so I do not like the idea of risking this but if you are familiar with the rockstar zx14, it does not have a sidewinder and he stays in the air but I have seen the bike go a lot faster than 8.40 on what is claimed to be a stock motor. Out of respect for their camp and grudge racing, i will not say the time but it is very impressive so imagine what would happen with a sidewinder.

I don't think I have seen that Rockstar bike...but if it is under 400 lbs, factor that in.

But, I'll tell you what...I will put my bike on the dyno in the next few weeks and see how the power curve of the TiWinder compares to the Shortmeg and CT header's.

Lawd have mercy they are spraying the house down! Like a huge shot! there is a video of him giving a big guy the back tire on a big motor hand clutch busa and him coming around him on the back tire. And later he stands up on the line sits it down and right about the 1000ft mark, he stands up again and still sets the win lights on against a 1000 with a slider and some more goodies. The bike is flying and is still stock clutch!

Kaw-rick is running 100 shot wet on a stock motor, so I can see that.

I might stay stock motor, or not. It's not much bragging rights, really. I'd rather have the motor live.

Just asking, did Kaw-rick do the valve springs? also what did he use to take out timing. was it module or what? That's kind of pushing the issue and like I said, I am on my third motor and can not afford to keep blowing up! But I definately want a much bigger shot. I grudge race a lot!

I know of a few 14 running 80+ dry shots on stock bottom ends with valve springs. It's all in the tune. You are losing a little bottom end, but gaining peak power with the sidewinder over a regular street exhaust.

maybe 1-2 hp diff from a SW to a street pipe, but the gain in power (if at all) from a street pipe will not be even close to making up for the slower hole shot due to the higher center of gravity

So you think street pipes make more power then sidewinders?

The Brock's techs told me that SWs make more peak power.

This is true if you have a built motor but on stock motors, I was told and seen the HP difference. It dropped! Like i said, I have not made my mine up but I am considering it. I am scared as ever to build my motor again so I am looking for everything I can get out of the stock app.

Smokin said his mph went up when he went to the sw on a stock motor...... that would indicate more hp. I'm not arguing with you...... well, I guess I am, but I'm still interested in hearing about your experience. I want to make sure that buying my brocks sw was a good investment.

Buying the sidewinder was a damn good investment. I am just weighing my options. I am not trying to toot my own horn but I can ride my azz off so I am not worried about the ground clearance but notice how much power jesse is picking up! I have been told time and time again that sidewinders hurt stock zx14 motors and I am now listening! Honeslty, I do not want to change it but I want more power!

it depends on the SW, and street pipe. sometimes the bends to get clearance arent the best for power, but i dont think thats an issue with Brocks
