How Low Can It Go?

I have a friend looking to practically slkam his 07 zx14. I advised him agaist going to the last hole on his lowering links because of the fuel pump hanging down. Has anyone rode daily on their 14 with the back fully lowered and hitting the pump. Any detrimental damage?

That isnt as big an issue as knocking the drain plug out. I lowered one last week and first day he rode it , the plug got it pulling into his driveway.

Yeah has already knocked out the plug. Got it moved to the rear of the pan. I also told him his muzzy would rub. He doesn't care. But we are concerned about the pump.

That looks good. Thanks for the pic. He rides on the street though and wants it that low. I can do it for him but I'd hate to have him bust the pan or get hooked on something and go down. He has about that clearance right now, without being on the bike.

Not sure what I'm seeing at the oil filter location. Is that an oil filter block off?

I ride mine on the street every day and to the track on weekends with it lowered 1" in the front, slammed on 3 hole links in the rear, and a clems pan (from OSR). My stock shock would allow the fuel pump to hit, but I put a racetech 13.8 kg/in spring on it and don't have to worry about it anymore. My mods are as follows.

07 zx14
Brocks street meg exhaust
Lowered 1" front and last hole on muzzys 3hole links
Racetech 13.8 kg/in spring on the rear shock with 10 threads showing at the top of the shock
Clems Pan
16/46 gearing
Spencer cycles extensions sitting at 63.5" wheelbase

I'm roughly 175 lbs in shorts, so probably 190 in leathers and helmet? I hope that helps you a little bit.

If it's for the street it's a worm burner from hell. I have to stay at the middle hole on the lowering links and avoid speed bumps at all costs. Drain gutters are also a problem. Avoid freshly painted white lines as well.

What is he? 13? Adivse him of consequences, and if he still wants to do it and he's not bright enough to be extra careful with it lowered that far, then oh well. People have to take responsibilty for their own actions. You did your part in letting him know the possibilities of riding a slammed bike. Now it' s up to him. .02
