quote: Guys I think it is good to error on the side of caution, that being said, I have been spraying a 50 shot since the bike was new in Sept. of 06. I have always run premium pump gas and let her eat. There is no need to pull timing until you cross the 50hp threshold. The most important thing is a good map to ensure you are getting the proper amount of fuel. I finally pulled the head just due to the amount of nos passed on the bike and everything looked fantastic. I run my spray through a Schnitz two knob controller and bring it in slowly so I don't hit anything hard inside the motor. I put springs in the head and put it back together. Ready for a few more years of flogging. These things are engineering marvels!
Well, there are exceptions to every rule I guess.
For me it wouldn't be worth risking. I have too much time and money invested in my bike. I think most would agree that it is not a good idea to spray 50 on pump gas without pulling timing.
Just curious, how long do you stay on the button? What is your a/f? How much change in rwhp when you are spraying? How slow are you bringing it in with the 2-dial?
Track results? Size of your nitrous bottle, bottle pressure, pressure regulation?
When i would spray my bike with the 40-50 shot i would try to stay out of 6th gear so i would do 1-5th gear pulls on the button gearing was 16/44, my AFRs were set at 11.8 on 101 with the 50 shot it made like 47hp over my motor did and the 40 shot made right at 39hp
Why did you try to stay out of 6th gear!

on the 40 shot i picked up 8.5MPH at the track and 3 tenths, i never took the bike to the track with the 50 shot the only reason i put the 50 in was to race a turbo busa on the street, we did a 2nd gear roll and i yanked him till about 160 than he started to make his move on me.
I was giving up about 40hp to him but i had the hit of the bottle to put some distance on him before he got going

Sorry so slow to get back. Pulling timing is surely not going to hurt and if it helps you sleep at night have at it. I am saying that for drag racing, not land speed, or long drawn out runs it is not essential. I have the nos going through a wide open throttle switch that turns on the two knob that brings the nos in at 22% and has a 1.5 second ramp to 100%. I run a 2.5 lb bottle inverted on Mac arm that is set up at 64" dead on. I have been 8.71 at 163mph at several different tracks including Muncie,Indiana, Indianapolis, and Beech Bend in Bowling Green, Ky. The set up is not aggressive at all, I bracket race and look for consistency. I have had 1.40 60' times a few times but my average is probably 1.43 this is with stock rear sprocket and down one in the front. The AF I am not sure of, Ryan mapped the bike I do not touch it EVER! As far as bottle pressure I don't worry about it, I am usually too busy BSing to babysit a bottle. Ryan told me years ago, if it is cold put the bike in the sun, if it is hot put it in the shade, thats it. I have my own fill station in my shop so filling is a breeze, otherwise that is the biggest inconvienence of nos is making sure you have time to go get your bottles filled. Hope this helps.

I don't know about that, nothing was free but I just put my money toward what is going to yield hp. I put on a SS Muzzys and took what I saved by not buying the most expensive pipe on the market ane put it toward the nos set up. The next year I bought the fill station, then extra bottles etc. One thing that helps me is my neighbor has a 6 second pro-stock style S-10, he spends 15k a year on motor stuff which in turn makes my stuff seem like a bargain when our wives talk. Works well for me!

How well does DYNOJET IGNITION MODULE work for pulling timing on a 07 zx14?
