New BMC Filter

I finally got my new BMC filter in yesterday. So it's my project of the day. I dug out my old email from Brock that had the maps.

I have the SMEG installed. I've been running the stock Air Filter all this time. I might, and probably will, go as far as removing the flies on my '08 SE. But first, I wanted to try it out with the flies in. I may end up removing the flies next weekend, but for now I want to get a good feel of the power with just the Air Filter change.

I bought the Race BMC Filter, though it won't see much time at the track. I have a PC3 installed. The maps Brock sent me are as follows;

BPP-ZX1408-Smeg-B-PC3usb_STREET-MAP1.djm
BPP-ZX1408-Smeg-B-PC3usb_TRACK-NOSEC-MAP1.djm
BPP-ZX1408-Smeg-NB-PC3usb_TRACK-NOSEC-MAP1.djm
BPP-ZX1408-StreetSmart-ALL-PC3usb_STREET-NOSEC-MAP1.djm

These maps were sent in Sept of 2008. Are there new ones?

Should I continue using the same map? I'm currently using the BPP-ZX1408-Smeg-B-PC3usb_STREET-MAP1.djm

Obviously I shouldn't use the NoSec maps until I remove the flies, but is there a different map for the BMC Race Filter? I'm really not certain what the difference is between the latter three maps.

Is running the BMC Race Filter a bad idea on the street? I didn't put off buying this filter because I was cheap, just too busy to get around to it. But since I finally got around to it, I wanted to see about getting some more power first.

I put tons of miles on this bike as I use it to commute all over Eastern WA.

I'll probably post this on Brock's Forum, but I was thinking I'd get a faster response on this forum.

I don't think it will make any difference air filter change alone. The maps I got from Brocks say with stock or aftermarket filter like it doesn't matter which is installed. You should just bite the bullet and remove those flies. I've heard even the '08's benefit from it. I took the flies out of mine and I'm a total mechanic noob. I had to ask how to use a rear stand on this forum and someone thought I was trolling. If you just open the power commander program then open the maps under the power commander software it will have a detailed explanation of the map you opened.

I just installed it and went for a ride. The bike is definitely breathing better. Felt real good and snappy. I couldn't really get on it because of the dirt and sand all over the roads. They don't clean the roads much until winter is over. Thing is, while you guys down south are suffering a cold winter, we've been quite balmy. It was 47 degrees out. Last year we had a record 98 inches of snow fall between Dec and Jan, this year, less than 11. Only rain.

Anyway, I like the filter. I'll probably get the street version later. If I don't see much of a difference during 'normal' riding, I'll probably be willing to let this one go just to be safe. However, I won't intentionally choose less power if you know what I mean...

I will remove the flies just to try it. I've seen enough 08/09 riders say it's not that much different to make me want to do it. Don't get me wrong, if someone came over and did for me I wouldn't mind. I just don't have that many free weekends to get around to it.
