I've had a vortex on both of my 14's and never had a "vibration" as Busa bently has. If you have a aftermarket exhaust you will not even hear it.

Hm funny in both of my 14s i could hear and feel it even with an smeg. it's not the bikes fault it just needs the rubber dampner. some guys just don't notice stuff as much as others. Like I said I ran them and it did not really bother me could feel it for sure but who cares it's not hurting anything. guy i sold my bike to could not believe the difference.

And don't be a hater, I mean you must be a hater or you would refer to me as Bently. LOL you must have a short memory I had two 14s you know . and would have another some day. Busa just suites me better for my racing plans for next year that's all. not because it will be quicker or faster cause it won't be. won't be slower either.

I'm not being a hater. You always have something negative to say aboutthe 14. I really don't understand why your here.

Saying a cheap vortex sprocket sends Harmonics to the 14 at 4000 to 5000 rpms is saying something bad about the 14? Are you that big of moron? How many miles do you ride your 14 on the street? becuase it's not something you notice at the track. Dig up a thread where I bad mouth the 14. lets see it I will wait. cause even if I still owned the 14 I would have made this same post. it's not the bike it's the lack of putting a non factory part on the don't have the rubber. is that hard for you to understand. You seem to have a problem with me just cause I switched bikes. show me the threads I will wait.

Most people go with the oem because of the rubber damper. It's pretty common knowledge that it is smoother than an aftermarket one.

The sprocket you need is off of the old Zephyr 1100. The part # is in my build thread (the link that masszx14 listed), among other places.

Dusty, I don't think Bently is being negative; he's just offering his experience. Many others have stated the same thing about vibes with an aftermarket countershaft sprocket.

i think it should have been 16/46 and 63" wheelbase

Yeah, but some of us ride on real roads not just dragstrips, besides that gearing limits my high speed runs too much

Assist: . The sprocket can be ordered from any stealership. It is the OEM sprocket from a kawasaki Zephyr 1100.

Part # 13144-1317

here is a website that has it for 28 bucks.

Do you think that the 16 tooth is a little small for the street?Could it be a little tight for a chain that size? What will it do for the chain life? not to start a war here but I would like to know before I make the change. Thanks

I bought both the oem and Vortex 16T fronts and the oem was less
than $10 more expensive with shipping and all.
Either way the bike will loose a little bit of it's smoothness for street riding
and will be slightly more twitchy resembling more a liter bike.
I do street riding only and ran 16/42 with a 190/55 rear tire through the
entire 09 and the bike was geared well- not too low by any means.
Actual gears would be just -1 in the front due to the taller rear tire and
equivalent to 16/41 with a 190/50 rear.
I will put in the 43 rear again for next season as I like the feel of the shorter
wheel base on the 14 as the bike turns in slightly sharper.

Hope this helps other folks that don't drag race their 14s.

most people don't clean their chains anyways ..and thats chain life .. so put the sprocket on and don't worry about it .

I've had both the 16T Vortex and the oem 16T. Night and day difference.
I wouldn't go back to the Vortex.

Is there a ZX14 15T?
Or is it for the 12?
I'm used to the vibe but will switch in a second to a rubber one!
A new chain is likely too. 25k on it, LOL

I would not even think of a 15T front with a 530 chain.

I run a 15T front on my track 750 (15/44 which is -2/-1 on the gsxr) but I run a 520 chain and it's fine.
