LOL... He tried to out run the hellicopter on a 600cc bike...lol
His top speed was only 140mph...then he ran out of GAS!!!
Now if he had a REAL bike he may of gotten away ...LMFAO
DPS helicopters only go up to 150mph...He should of had a 14!!!

Outrun a chopper not a wise move no matter what your riding there's nothing to maneuver around in the sky. Only way he had a chance was rolling near an airport but still not a bright idea.

He got pulled over by the airport downtown, then he ran and went up the hiway, north on I-17.The cop cars laid off so he wouldnt kill anyone ,the the bear was in the air ...lol

No good to try and out run a bear in the air. Better off ditching the bike in a crouded place blending in and catching a cab or a bus maybe. Still gotta keep em from seeing you do all that but better chances there than out running the heilo. Unless there's plenty of gas and room to to 200 mph for a while . Still a no win situation for what you get out of it unless you get away.

Agreed, the chopper can maintain 150 all the time and can travel "as the crow flies".
To average 150 the bike will have to be topping 200, it can't be done on the highway even with a superbike.

A friend of mine was out on a "quick" ride one afternoon when he heard sirens coming up from behind. He took off as fast as he could go and hid in a hedge until it got dark, then made his way home.
The inevitable knock on his door came mid-evening. The cops expalined that they hadn't originally been after him, they were on another emergency. However they'd got his number and could not ignore his riding. They took his licence away.
I think I would always stop, not only because of the above but these situations have a habit of going from bad to worse and other folk can get injured too.

I have had many chases on the street and have had one helo after me then a trip to jail. The police today dont mess around you could get shot with the right officer. If they will taser a ten year old little girl then some will shoot you if they get the chance. Not to mention the jail time you will get.If you stop you could get the ticket reduced but its not likely that you will get out of it these days since the money is not there and you see alot more officers writing tickets but its better then the jail time with a new record to go with it. I agree with intimida2or if you hurt somone you know have a huge problem and a fresh new five grand a year policy to insure your 14.

And if a cop gets killed during a pursuit cause he was dumbassed enough to try too hard to keep up with the bike , make sure you do get away cause those consequences are huge!
Also when you do pull over for a highspeed violation watch out for the cop cause most likely he'll
be pissed and be right on your rear wheel just itching for a reason to bump you off the road.

For the amount you can pay an attorney these days to represent for a simple speeding ticket(while saving you from points and insurance hikes), why run? Now it's going to cost him 100 times that amount in fines, plus jail, and definite insurance increases! Maybe even more....

a typical 600 runs outta steam around 160...not 140......besides, 140 can be done in less than 20 seconds from a dig on a 600....
Still it is dumb to run from the cops on any bike...

One of my friends got 10 days in jail , 6 years probation , some fines and felon evasion onhis record for running from the cops.
He was lane splitting when a cop car slowed traffic ahead and a cop caught up from the rear and the both boxed him in and pulled him over.
My friend said he didn't even know there was a cop behind him chasing but the cop said BS and took him in anyway.

Stop & take the heat then give it to your lawyer. I've had an over 100mph ticket dismissed by not being a jerk & running, a felony here. The cop couldn't believe I stopped & dropped the speed to under 30 over. Everyone I was with thought it was jail time, they couldn't believe I just got a ticket & was on my way again in 10 minutes. Just lucky sometimes. Still don't know how the lawyer got it dismissed but it was deffinatley worth the money I paid him.

I got pulled over on I10 in Cal. doing over 90 in a 70. As soon as I saw him I pulled over.
As the one officer was looking over my paperwork, the other asked "Honestly, how fast have you had this thing?" I pointed to my Texas Mile sticker and explained to him how I'd gone from zero to 208 in a mile. The cop with my paperwork smiled and muttered "Saweet".
After running my tags and license he came back and politely wagged his finger and told me to slow it down and sent me on my way.
I think being polite, pointing out that I try to take it to the track and the fact that I probably could have just vanished, and didn't, all worked in my favor.
I couldn't help but smile all the way to L.A.
