18 bucks for a JT steel 16t here in san diego. I run a clip style master link. So far i've only got about 3k miles on it, but no problems as of yet.

I would strongly suggest the oem 16T with the rubber damping.

Oems are around $50. I'd get a vortex for $20. It will make a big difference!

My 14's always picked up vibes with the vortex. when I sold my first 14 the guy brought it back two days later and asked me what was wrong with it as it vibrated badly at around 4000 to 4500 right where you cruised on the highway. it never botherd me but he hated it. so I threw the stock gear back on the front and he called me when he got home and said thanks the bike is butter smooth now. so just a note without the rubber dampner you will get some vibes. may bother you may not.

I've had a vortex on both of my 14's and never had a "vibration" as Busa bently has. If you have a aftermarket exhaust you will not even hear it.

i guess that's the good thing about running the cheapest sprocket i could find. No vibes here, and I don't have bar ends on my bike.

I've had both the 16T Vortex and the oem 16T. Night and day difference.
I wouldn't go back to the Vortex.

Running 17/42 Afam steel sprockets from Drive Systems with no noise or vibration problems. Recommended because they're so hard, hopfully will outlast oem's 26k mile wear. The 1 extra tooth rear seems to work better than stock gearing without increasing revs too much.

1 tooth rear shouldn't even really be noticeable.

Hm funny in both of my 14s i could hear and feel it even with an smeg. it's not the bikes fault it just needs the rubber dampner. some guys just don't notice stuff as much as others. Like I said I ran them and it did not really bother me could feel it for sure but who cares it's not hurting anything. guy i sold my bike to could not believe the difference.

And don't be a hater, I mean you must be a hater or you would refer to me as Bently. LOL you must have a short memory I had two 14s you know . and would have another some day. Busa just suites me better for my racing plans for next year that's all. not because it will be quicker or faster cause it won't be. won't be slower either.

Not a lot just enough to notice, bike seems smoother rolling around town, about 250rpm higher in any gear. I think this should of been the stock gearing.

I'm not being a hater. You always have something negative to say aboutthe 14. I really don't understand why your here.

A 16 tooth with a big 530 chain is a tight turn. That is probalby what you were feeling. The rubber damper on the stock sprocket will smooth some of that out. I run Vortex front and rear on my bike. Only sprockets that haven't given me any chain chatter on launches.

Been down this road on every big bore bike I have owned , don't run a sprocket that vibrates, so ya feel it , what do you think it's doing to the counter shaft bearing, trany, gears !!
Find the hardest one's avalable. stay as large as possable on counter shaft , chain life!!
If your gutsy enough to run a clip type master link , at least epoxy the clip in place!
If your a hard core drag racer that doesent mind wrenching all the time , anything goe's!!
Stock sprocket for long life .
