Wrongways 1530 stroker motor on the dyno
Wrongs way 1530 motor ... Crank and pistons , stock rods , stock head and cams ..Home made zx12 pipe to fit a zx14 .. 197 HP and 121 TQ ...This was done on my dyno that my zx14 made 171 hp and 100 tq with my fat race map (12.85 to 12.90 ) ... Roys map was fatter at 12.30 to 12.60 .. We left it fat because he will be running the mile on the 4th here in FL .. 26 HP gain with the 1530 kit and 21 TQ ... The bike at 4000 RPMs has close to what my zx14 has at 7800 RPMs... We could have leaned it out and picked up a few more ponys but he wanted it a little fat for his small shot of N20...... He is running a very tiny tiny shot that only made 201 and the bike still ran fat ( safe/ safety first guys ) ..Roy doesn't want any more N20 melt downs ...
I know the dyno numbers may seem low compair to others... But my dyno does read 6 to 7 hp down from most dynos around here .. Numbers were SAE with smoothing factor 5 ..

What fuel was in it? E85?
By comparison, my stock motor bike made 186 hp sae/109 tq. on MR9 with the same fat a/f #'s. But I bet that torque curve is real nice on that stroker!
I think Roy said that the rods were Falicon knife rods.

I wanted to take it to the track when they reopen on the 6th but Roy had to head home before that ...

what did it dyno at with pump gas ? just trying to compare ... I bet most 14's would dyno within 1% of each other ON THE SAME DYNO.

So really on pump gas your looking at a 20 hp increase? guessing e85 is worth 6 hp over pump. Not knocking your numbers or build ,but I would do a 20 shot for 300.00 before spending that much for 20 hp.

I didn't have much choice , since 2 bores in the cases were melted along with a couple of pistons ... I was just happy that the cases could be weld back up

So MR9 is worth 10 hp ,,, that sounds like more power than E85 . I only saw a 5 hp gain on e85.

It would have been more HP had we leaned it out .. But you have to ask yourself do you want 26 hp all the time or only when you hit the button ..Let me also add this, this motor had so much low end power it just killed the tire , we had rubber flying everywhere in my shop .. We could have lost some hp because of that ... We had to let a bunch of air out of the tire to get it to somewhat hook on the dyno ..Low air pressure also kills HP on the dyno ... The real test would be taking to the track and test it against my zx14 numbers ..

i've learnt buying a used stocker is cheaper than welding and nicosil and resurfacing and shipping a burnt motor

maybe ... but i did want to get closer to the 1650 cc limit in the land speed class I am in . So I figured I had a good reason to go with the 1530 kit. it was only 600 bucks to weld up and plate the block .... vs the 400 to bore and plate. Deck ended up being -.007 inch after decking the block.

I would love to see your numbers and then follow it with a pass from wrong ways bike same day same conditions. honestly smoking what would you expect in the 1/4 mile over your bike? .20?

But I would have to see e85 to e85 or pump to pump to see the difference as well. I would love to see you run your bike on e85 smoking and see the gain you get at the track cause I consider you a pretty consistent rider.

No, the fuel was probably worth about 7-8 hp. I went with shorter velocity stacks and they moved the power and torque curve up a bit.

I really don't have a clue .. I ran 8.56 with a 30 shot .. That 30 shot only made 21 HP on the dyno .. So if i had to guess 8.50s , maybe faster because i sprayed just before shifting to 2 gear ..The stroker power would be on from the starting line and might ET a little faster .. I'm just guessing..

MR9? Can I get that in Canada, and can I run it in my snowmobile (R1 bike engine basically)??
What mapping changes are needed? It has a PC3 too with timing module!!
Thanks

The HP #'s came out about right where I thought they would but I guessed short on the TQ. Man I bet that's fun to ride!

121 tq is stout;
jack CR up, oxy race gas, get after cams/head to extend the tq curve and it'll make serious hp.
Roy,
you ready to roll to Miami?
See you there.
