FMU vs fuel pressure regulator
what do you turbo guys run and why, the kit i got has a FMU with it, but i was told a fuel pressure regulator would be better, what do you guys have and how do you like it?

We have secondary injection on Racheal's Turbo Busa. I was told that the bike should have a 1:1 rising rate regulator on it, but I have not verfied it. The bike is perfectly smooth from 6-20 psi of boost.
We use a Power Commander 3R to control timing.

i've never had an issue from this regulator in 2 years of service

the kit i got has a FMU with it but i was kinda worried if i set my static pressure at 40psi and its a rasing rate of 8:1 and im on 8psi of boost that would mean im going to be seeing fuel pressure of over 100psi i was under the impression that that was way to much pressure, was i told wrong or is that okay?

mine idles at 50lbs and on WOT it 110lbs of pressure .. all i have for a fuel pump is the bosch in tank ..works great for my use .. and i run the 8lb map i sent you for the cycle logic kit .. i've had 3 custom dyno tunes 800.00 and all 3 dyno-tune maps were worthless at the track .stalls and couldn't launch bike or to lean .. i've tweek that map from a a/f meter.. if i had a datalogger it would be even better for my bike..
BUT WHAT I HAVE LEARNT IS NO 2 TURBO BIKES HAVE THE SAME MAPPING.. i've done lotta map trading and testing ... WHAT WORKS on 1 bike my not work on another ..

Things I have learned from the pro's.
FMU allows use of smaller injectors with use of 7:1 or like fuel pressure to boost ratios'.
For much more than 10-12 psi, you will want to run bigger injectors, as exceeding 100 psi is really hard on the stock injector solenoids, and they can fail under excessive pressure.
Most of the tuners do not like FMU due to the strains the excessive fuel pressures create, and the lost reliability of the fuel system.
On a turbo this is crucial, as only a second of lean condition can burn pistons.
Robert has experienced a few meltdowns and is an exception to the norm.
I admire your tenacity Robert.
Most would have given up and went back to a naturally aspirated long ago, myself included.
The new bosch injectors have an extremely wide pulse width and very precise control over the entire duration cycle.
Personally I would advice spending the $600 on a good set of these 100lb injectors and 1:1 boost referenced regulators to keep fuel pressure at 43psi static, and 1 lb increase for every psi of boost, thus 10 psi boost = 53 psi fuel pressure
That or $1800 for Chris Jones secondaries and microtek controller if you have the coin.
he has a good base map already lined up, with some fine tuning you would be well on yur way

GEE THANKS lyle
once your turbo-ed nothing else compares ..i've got a total of 6 melted pistons from 3 engines ..this last boo- boo was all me not watching the fuel pressure gauge after almost 2 years of no problems..

That was meant as a compliment bro!
I meant you have more tenacity than most, not more burns than most ...LOL
