ZX14 knocking noise when you start it.
My engine makes a knocking noise when first started, It only does it really bad every now & then, Other times it makes a little noise for a minute & goes right away. Once it stops the bike is good to go as long as Im riding, It doesn't do it everytime. Any Suggestions.

Could be the cam chain tensioner. If it makes the noise at startup, shut the engine off and restart it. It will not usually repeat it on the second startup.

Yeah I think it's the cam chain tensioner . if it were anything else the knock would be full time not come and go.
But then again the tensioner makes a loud rattle not a knock... Could be rods set with extra clearance so that 1st dry start up has a knock untill oil cushions the extra clearance?
How many miles on her?
