Changing from 17t to 16t, which speed correction device?

After plenty of researching gear ratios etc. I've decided to go with a 16t sprocket and leave the stock rear 41 to start. I understand the bike stock has a +8% speedo error and adding a 16t will make it worse. My question is which is the best "speedo correction" device. Ive seen the speedohealer and a product from Muzzy called the Bonneville pro. Are there more? and which is the most popular with you guys. Thanks.

Well which ever method you go with ,know that your odometer will be off even though the speed will be accurate.

I believe both odometer and speedo use same signal. Less registered MPH=less mileage im thinking, chime in if im wrong.

Another question about grinding a corner, does this effect the needle at all..like cause a bouncing speedo needle at all at any speed?

Anyone try out the Bonneville pro yet ?? My speedohealer works fine but the factory gear indicator is off at anything more then 7%.. Will the Muzzy box disrupt the factory gear indicator ?

You want the Speedohealer V4.

Don't worry about the odometer- there's 8% speedo error but the odometer is precise and the healer will not interefere with that.

Hey wheelie, shoot me an e-mail at chadley.yates@gmail.com I would appreciate a little more info on the cs nut grinding since I'm going to be running 16/46 gearing in a couple of days.

I agree....the V4 rocks. Its super easy to set up, and with the push of a button goes from restricted to unrestricted speedo. Plus it has one-touch high speed recall. I mounted mine under the gauge console, and couldn't be happier with it.

Correct , Both the speedo and the odo use the same signal. Any change in the signal changes the reading. The ODO is really accurate stock but the speedo is off.
Fix the speedo and the ODO will be off a little bit. Probably not off enough to worry about. But I love my ODO and trip counters more than I like my speedo
I believe it messes with the gear indicator a bit too , cause since I've been running the 190/55 tire I've noticed the gear indicator be a bit lazy .Like at a light it will read that I'm in 1st gear
but when I take off I'm in 2nd. And when shifting up it will read one gear lower than I am actually in for a few seconds.
Didn't do it with the 190/50 .

i dont think that has to do with your tire, bc with all the extra gear i run (16/48) it dosent do that.

Hmm . I wonder what else could cause that? Strange stuff . Now it's got me thinking . Thanks a lot man just when I had a good reason for why the gear indicator is doing what it's doing you gotta come along and spoil it lol !

I hear ya! My 06 did that sometime. I think it did it more when the bike didn't go all the way in gear. It did it at random, I think it had a mind of its own.

I am thinking about going to a 16 tooth in the front. I have a 43 in the rear and speedohealer already. Do you figure dropping down a tooth in the front to a 16 will make that much of a difference in rideability?
