muzzy slip ons
New to the site.I would like to ask an opinion about the muzzy carbon slip ons.I have a box stock 09 and i would like to order the muzzy slip ons and a KnN air filter.I have heard that its possible to lose a little bottom end has anyone experienced this with muzzy slip ons? If that is the case would a pc help correct the problem.I ride alot in the twistys and dont want to lose any botton end if i can help it. I would like to here your opinion if anyone with an 08 09 has this setup.to my knowledge muzzys are quiet compared to most slip ons is this the case? I dont want loud. Thanks for the advice.

You will like the Muzzy carbon slipons . They are not too loud but have a deep mellow tone. I would pull the secondary flies and use a BMC filter rather than the K&N.You shouldn't lose any bottom end.

I had Muzzy slip on's, fly's out, K&N and a PC with the map for all. Added low end power
over stock mufflers. And sounded Great, mellow tone and Not Loud.

Thanks guys for the info. Some say that the 08 09 flys out dosent do a alot for the bottom end but many here on the site think its the way to go?Would you say that with the flys out and a pc that the throttle would be as smooth as stock through the power band without flat spots? And also what about pinging at lower rpms with the added bottom end power? Thanks for the input.

I also have Muzzy Slip-ons
I have the oval stainless version. My bike is a 07 SE. They sound great and have not noticed any bottom end power loss. Flies in, no pc. stock air filter.

I had a '07 14 with Muzzy's carbon slip-ons and they worked great. The sound was perfect to me plus I still like the balance look of two mufflers. If you want a tad more power & better sound, you'll love the slip-ons........top notch quality too.
A flies out bike with PC can be just as smooth (rideable) as the stocker. I could tell the difference on pulling the flies from my '08.
For all out performance though, a single sided full system is the way to go.

I went to Muzzys web-page and downloaded a map for their slip-ons when I had my '07. I believe the number was #009 but I'm not sure about the '08 & '09
It doesn't matter where you get the PC from, just shop around from a reliable source.
I can't remember ever having an issue with the idle but it's been a while......sorry.

The '08's & '09's are pig rich up top from the factory and usually leaning the bikes out with a PC will help performance but my youngest son recently bought an '08 14 and left the flies in and just installed a Brock's full system and his runs GREAT.
I'm thinking that if you add slip-ons and an aftermarket air filter it may lean the bike out enough where no PC is needed as long as you leave the flies in.
But.............if you're wanting all-out performance a PC is needed to fine tune the mapping.
Good luck with your decision.
Chief,
I'm not sure what to suggest on the '08's as far as having to install a PC when removing the flies. I know on my oldest sons '07 the bike went dangerously lean, like 18:1 when he removed the flies.
I know the '08 & '09's are richer, I just don't what is safe on those models. Surely some one with experience will chime in.

I ride the twisties a lot also so I can appreciate all around power. First of all the 14 does not get out of breath at any rpm. The only reason for slip ons over a full header system is only ease of install or looks if you prefer. I installed a Yosh R77 and it has more power all over compared to stock. That can be backed up by dyno charts especially north of 7k rpms. I use a stock filter with the screen cut out just some flush cuts to the plastic rivets and its gone. The power is smooth and usable all over. Mine is an 06 with flies removed as it was necessary on the 06-07s. I also have the PC. If I had the 09 i would leave the flies in and install a full system. Don't know about the PC and tune for that.

The full systems are nice and they do make more power then the slip ons but what i dont like is that most are four into one and they are all too loud. Some day we ride hundreds of miles that kind of sound can drive you crazy on the long rides. If you get the full system you need the pc that much i do know.

Quiet yup thats why I got the Yosh with the silencer installed its really quiet and more torque down low to mid with it installed. Ask around its one of the quietest and lighter than slip ons.

the full muzzys or brocks gen3 are pretty quiet. i think that you might be surprised if you ever ride with one.

They are nice, but I liked the ti-force/orient express exhaust the best. Great looking, superior build quality, and lower price. I don't like slip-ons because they cost just as much as a full system (in many cases), and they make less power.

The four into one full systems are not always the best for low end to mid range power for the twistys.

That depends on who's 4/2/1 system and does it have a good map for where you are riding..higher in mountains. Oh and what rear gear?? That was a plus in the Ozarks.

Four into ones not always not as good in the twisties a myth really. My bike is more responsive at all rpms and not peaky either as the basic engine characteristics have not changed. I use mine all the time that way just not true thats its not as good. And thats right at sea level cool days or whatever the bike is better because of the lower weight.
