Jis screwdriver and flys

I have heard on this site that the best screw driver for fly removal is the jis made in japan.Im wondering does anyone know what size screwdriver that project takes? I have a six foot tall box and no js screw drivers though i know about them.I would like to order that particular size if i could get the info Thanks for advice.

You don't actually need a JIS screwdriver for the job... I searched and searched and couldn't find one readily available in my area.

Just get a brand new #2 philips screw driver, one that is 8" long (blade). Also get a blow torch. Here is what I used:

Get the tip of the screw driver hot enough so it starts to glow. Put it on the screw and keep it there for 45 seconds to a minute. Do not turn it no matter how tempted you are. After a minute, while pressing down on it with the palm of your hand at its end, start turning it with your left hand and the screws will turn with no problem.

A soldering iron held on the screws for a minute or more also works extremely well. Mine came out so easy the screws weren't even marked.

I would advise against heating the screwdriver tip "so it starts to glow" you could alter the temper of the metal.

Mine came out cold but I did buy a new screwdriver especially for the job.

No heat or pounding is necessary, no really. I used an old plumbing trick: First tighten the screw slightly just until this breaks the threadlock then they all back right out. You have nothing to lose if you somehow stripped the head while tightening it will not effect removal bite.

Klein #2 FTW. Just a downward steady twisting pressure pops them loose.

i agree with NOT heating the tip of the screwdriver. im sure it would make the screwdriver brittle. i didnt do anything to mine. just turned them with some serious pressure on the screw, and tada!

I've only used a #2 screwdriver wit no failures just a couple troublesome screws.
The only problems I ever have are the last screw always seems to be the one that gives the hardest fight lol!

+1 on the klein I charged up the tip with a speaker magnet so the loose screw stays put on the screwdriver.

New screwdriver, and I put a lighter to the screwdriver for about a minute, then put it onto the screws. Worked great
