When you clip a construction cone...

This happens
I was heading home at last night on the street when I took off at a light and hiding just ahead in the total darkness was a construction cone laying across the entire lane. I swerved and clipped the freakin cone at 60mph . I heard a loud CRACK and thought shit that's gonna leave a mark . But then I got home and saw most of the lower fairing smashed off! Geez my poor Red bike

The positive side at least you stayed up and its a relatively cheap piece. I've passed in the daylight some big chunks of wood etc. its kind of scary to think about.

Oh yeah could have been much worst .Lately there's been a lot of big trash in the roads in Socal. The other day there was a ladder in just about the same place the cone was . If I were to hit that my bike gets totaled for a 5th time lol!
Just sucks that I get my bike back on the road for less than 2 months and bam there goes a freshly painted part!

That sucks INTIMIDA2OR! At least you kept it on 2 wheels... This is one of the main reasons why I try not to ride at night

I know the feeling I broke the bracket for the rear brake peg when I hit one on the way back from Vegas with 400 miles to go.

As "they" say it could always be worst, glad it wasn't worst.

I know the feeling- just another thing to deal with when you've just had enough lately.

If it's just the lower it could have been worst I guess. Riding at night has it's many risks...

Also I would like to thank one of my best friends for helping me out on this one.
Thankyou Chuck (aka Flame On) ! I couldn't make it down to the painter to get the color matched and without Chuck's help
letting the painter see his red 14 for the color match , I might still have a smashed lower fairing!
Thanks a million dood !

I remember a couple years ago when DaveO hit one of the small plastic cones at Maxton around 210mph, not only did it shatter his plastic but it flattened two primary tubes on his headers.
Glad you didn't go down and the bike's already fixed.

You wouldn't think a cone would do extensive damage lol!
But I guess when you factor in speed then all bets are off.
Just like in space astronauts are vulnerable to tiny debris even water droplets if they are traveling supersonic or faster
