It's been fun

Traded the 14 in today for a 2005 FJR. I loved the 14 for what it can do, but I found myself using it for commuting and longer trips for the most part. I was just about to add the LSL handlebar riser kit and get all the luggage racks and luggage, but decided to get a bike that already had all that included instead.

The one thing I already miss is the power, it really is addictive!

I'll most likely own another 14 one day, it is a truly awesome machine!

The new ride

I had an FJR before nice bike to ride. If I go that route again I would want a C14

I would not consider it a loss if he does lots of miles. Plenty of other good bikes out there besides the 14.

+1 The C14 would be my choice too!
But the fjr isn't a bad choice either if the price is right.

I would understand wanting a different bike if your just making long trips. The 14 is a comfortable sportsbike, but to me, I couldn't make a lot of long trips.

I can do 100-150 miles at a time but that's about it. I think that a set of buell pegs, a Connie seat and a set of bags would make it long trip worthy.

I had one too before the 14,loved the comfortable ride but the lack of a 6 gear overdrive bothered me. Was kinda buzzy right at 75 cruising speed.

Justa quick question.

Did you consider the 14 Concours and if so why the Yamaha?

Yamaha had some warranty problems with bad valve guides on the FJR1300. I think the

2005 was OK.

I sat on and read reviews of all the sport tourers but the FJR always appealed to me more.

Also the Concours felt a lot bigger and the FJR looks better to me.

The 5 speed gearbox is taking some getting used to. I've noticed some vibes around 4.5-5k rpms also but they're not too bad.

Overall I like the FJR a lot, looking forward to many many miles over the next few years!

Ditto. I will always have the 14 ,well at least untill the zx-20 comes out.
I am thinking of getting a full on touring machine namely a goldwing so me and my wife can bring the house with us and have all the creature comforts.
But the 14 stays

I have always liked FJR's, and still may add one to to stable, however, it would not replace the 14. Regarding C14, I just can not get over it's quirky looks, which unfortunately were not fixed with the 2010 makeover.

bigtallguy.... nice new bike, my buddy has an 07 FJR1300 and he lets me ride it when I get sore on long rides and its very comfortable compared to the 14. I will be getting a C14 someday. do you have the LSL bar risers for the 14 and do you want to sell them?
