Carpenter 210HP...Still Streetable?

http://www.carpenterracing.com/zx14.htm

These packages look sweet and I might be able to swing one later in the winter. Clearly the later packages would not be very streetable but what about the first two? The 210+HP package doesn't look too much for the street and even the 215HP. Anyone have this done or know how streetable these packages are? I'll take opinions on if these mods are over the top for a street bike...Thanks.

The first thing I would consider is the correction factor, and what the engine is going to make on pump fuel. For example, a 210 STD hp engine running on race fuel is going to be less than 200 hp SAE on pump.

All that being said, the 210 engine looks mild...with the 215 package having bigger cams. Depending on the size of those cams, it might not be an ideal street engine.

First and foremost decide how you want to use the bike...that will determine which set of compromises you wish to choose, engine-wise.

Shane

Maybe a thought, isn't a small turbo kit not much more than that? Imho a turbo would be a lot of fun!

I didn't even think about the different fuels. I guess the HP numbers they are quoting would be for race fuel, I can ask them about that.

Well, street racing (kind of) is my primary use. Everyone can lecture me later but around here we find empty stretches of HWY and open it up. Roll-ons from any gear and who ever hits the next exit first is the winner. That being said if its not raining (too hard) im riding everywhere and everyday so I need streetable.

Ya there was a dyno shootout here saturday and my buddy took his 08 busa to it and made 202 on 93 pump gas and 248 on a 40 dry shot with a mps spider kit. I did not go but know for a fact my 14 always dynos around 6 to 8 hp less then his busa but runs the same at the track. so if your 14 is showing 205 man that's a happy dyno. just for reference my buddy had his 08 on this dyno and made 200 hp then drove 45 miles to another dyno and made 189 same day same gas. so what dyno to you think is more accurate i know which one i will go with. but hey all harley shops dynos read high how else can you feel good about spending 2500 to 4000 on a big bore kit and not make 90 hp still.

34 degrees, and he we are still sweating down here. At that temp the correction factor should have taken power away from the uncorrected #.

I'm making right at 210 at the rear and thats with the 1417 2 mil overbore on pump. U will never attain that on any stock 14 or any stock street bike for that matter, that I know of. Yes it is very streetable. No heating problems at all. They do make a 3 mil 1445 or 1450 but the walls are getting a bit thin at that point. Not a lot of room to bore out on the 14's like u can with the busa. This package below that Carpenter is offering that claimes 210+ with just head and cams and no pistons or increased stroke is a bit exaggerated IMO. His HP claimes is 10 to 15 HP higher than what you will actually get on pump gas.

CARPENTER:
210+ includes CNC Head Porting/ Custom Camshafts/ High rate Valve Springs/ Retainers/Auto Cam Chain Adjuster, and Clutch Mod. $3700
