zx14 - & zx10
question is this does a zx10 have the secondary butterflies like the zx14? an if so does the 05 zx 10 x gain the same type of hp from the start? does it benefit the same as the zx14 from their removal?

Yes the ZX-10 has secondary butterflies. Not for sure what removing them would do though...

The zx10 has them, the R1 has them etc.
Problems arise when you need to tune after their removal.
The zx10 is known to be challenging in that aspect.
I think Dubious posted about that when he was wrenching on a friend's 08 zx10.

Yes i hear it's all in the tuning as well . Not like the 14's where you pretty much get a free lunch!

Pretty heavily debated.
This thread has 54 pages about it, but the first post on page 54 pretty well sums it up.

I have an '05 zx10r and pulled the flies as soon as I got it home.

Made a big affect on the fist generation ZX14 heard the newer ZX14 has better response and most are leaving in.

Yeah, pulling them on the zx10r will not net gains anywhere near the 25 (or so) ft lbs of torque gained on the gen1 zx14. But every little bit counts.

And it's a gain you not only can feel in the seat or pants but your whole body .(full effect only on the 14)

I did not like the slight hesitation caused by the secondary's from lower to high RPM on the ZX14. The ZX10 is faster I heard from a mid to higher RPM range so removing from a ZX10 might have little to no effect on them.

I don't think any other bike had so much of a gain just by removing the flies !
