Low Fuel Light ohm measurements
I've been slacking on this enough!! and found a low fuel light setup in my tool box.
note i used water, i don't know if gas makes a difference!?

that is out of the water, using the housing as the ground, like the oem pump would and the wire as the other source.
now i drunked it in the water and left the other wire out of the water and let it sit for 30 seconds and it showed this.

I don't think that is enough of a change to really trigger it, but could be. any thoughts or another way i should test this. i remember doing this before, but i dont remember what i did. whoops, too many gas fumes!

I am not sure Brian.
I will have to check my wiring schematics again too.
I though it would have been as simple as plugging the level sending unit wires and good to go, but you actually were the one, as well as Will, to bring up this issue.

I thought Will said he just grounded the wire, and it still flashes on the dash.
Unless you would have the ground that wire(s) to the chassis?

I'm assuming you are trying to go with an external fuel pump?
When I installed the Muzzy fuel system, I put a 1000 ohm resistor inline, you won't ever get the low fuel warning. The resistor I used actually comes up 1144 on my meter, but it's a cheap meter and there variation from one resistor to the next. Hopefully this helps

when you say you put the resister inline ,inline to what
cuz the other two wires go to the new fuel pump pos/neg
and the third low volt wire goes no where now
did you put just the resister on the end or did you ground it

I'm actually in the process of going back to the stock pump. I'll go see how I wired it. It's been a long time since I figured it out.
Are you guys using the Muzzy system? Just curious as when I had the same problem, their tech guy told me that nothing was required to make the fuel sensor work. Wrong. I had to figure it out on my own.

I'd assume its low light to ground with a resistor between those two.

you're basically replacing the signal of the sensor in the tank with a constant approx 1000 ohms. If memory serves me the sensor is grounded on one end and the other goes up the harness to the ecu? It will come back to me when I get eyes on it later.

the sensor is grounded on the pump, which gets grounded to the housing on the bottom with the nut.
Big Will has the muzzy setup, believe dubious has his own setup. im still running a stock fuel pump setup, i'm just trying to help!

I am running a massive wedco pump, but need to fool the ecu same as you muzzy guys, or anyone running a aftermarket pump, I think.
Thanks guys!

bigwil, glad you got it figured out. it sucks that we have to figure it out on our own and it's not addressed in the kit when you pay $700 or whatever it costs.
I bought mine when they first started selling it, and I'm not good with wiring and it took me all the same experimenting like compton did to figure it out.

I have alot of electrical hurdles to overcome right away.
The most difficult will be shortening the harness, and relocating the ecu where the left ram air tube used to be.
If Will could go over his ams 1000 wire connections, indicating which wire on the stock harness/ ecu was connected to which wire on the ams1000 harness, that would be awesome!
I will be wiring and relocating the MSDSB6, microtech, innovate, speedohealer, PC5 with boost based map, and independant control of fuel trim for each cylinder.
Since my harness will be shortened and relocated, it will be a bit more difficult than it sounds!
I will also be looking to make a new dash with ability to mount 4 gauges, shift light and few other accessories.
If possible it will replace the stock ram air tube covers, and mount around the stock guages as well.
If it turns out well, I will likely make a few duplicates for those interested.

I can't imagine the wiring nightmare with the turbo and all those electronics. My bike is completely back to stock now, ready to sell. The stocker is simple compared to what I had. I never thought I would say that
