Tire mounting machine
For the riders who mount their own tires what equipment are you using? I've done internet searches and only come up with the large machines (costing a grand or more) nomar etc. I saw a manual tire mounting machine constructed of metal tubing that had a bead braker attached to it but didn't see a brand name so I cant find it online. The static wheel balancers are easy to find for a $100 but a tire mounting mahcine is proving to be elusive. Thanks for the help!

I have a No Mar, but a lot of people use the inexpensive one from Harbor Freight. The basic No Mar is around $600, I think....the Harbor Freight is like $60, if I recall.

I have and use the Nomar Classic model. All I can say is that it is worth every penny. I split the cost with a few of my riding buddies, so the cost was very reasonable to each of us. The quality of craftsmanship, phone and online support is unmatched. I think our unit, with balancer, hand clamps, tire lube (basically everything you need) was around $800. If you care about not scratching your wheels, this is the way to go. Split that between 3 or 4 guys, and it doesn't take too many trips to the dealer to justify the expense. My $.02

I have the Jr. Pro NO MAR and agree it is worth the investment. Also split cost with riding buddies. The ROI is one tire change.

+1 - I think it works great. With seven bikes in our stable, it has more than paid for itself. I occassionally change tires for friend in exchange for a case of beer. Works out for everyone.

I had an expensive pneaumatic tire machine that scratched rims if I wasn't careful. Would also dig into the tire on hard to mount GOLDWING tires. Sold it for the nomar with the hitch mount. Easy to use. No more scratches or gouges.
