Clems oil pan
I took off my oil pan today and ordered the Clems. I found a rubber hose in the oil pan that is the exact length as the pick up. When I install the Clems pan do I need to cut the hose to the same length as the modified oil pick up screen? Also, just an FYI but my bike has only 640 miles on it and less than 100 passes at the track and the oil screen had plenty of clutch fiber trash in it. Maybe a good idea to clean it quite often.

Remove the hose altogether'' Grab the hose and pull straight down on it,but make sure the clamp comes with it! The reason your seeing so much material in the screen is the bike was still seating all the new parts including the clutches. Taking it to the drag strip is a little rough on frictions when new so you have a build up of shavings. Replace the screen as it not easy to get into it to clean properly. ...........................Bill

Its the drain back for the oil to reach the pan. If you don't cut it or remove it and it get's in the oil it will pump oil into your airbox! I remove all the ones that come in my shop for a pan mod. Also i just seen your other post, man im glad your ok. I have a 08 upper center fairing in the dark blue if you need it. I have a fender also. 50.00 plus shipping and its all yours......................Bill

Bill, is that pipe there to chuck out the oil when you over fill it???
I am going to remove the pipe on mine and try putting another breather on the top cover aswell because last time I was on a circuit in ten laps it chucked out about half of its oil.
Once I remove that pipe as you say I'm sure it will be ok but another breather out of the top cover cant hurt, can it?

That tube directs return oil right to the pick-up screen area . The design is also supposed to deter oil foaming at high rpm.

Clems customer service is great. I emailed them today (sunday) to see if my cracked pan would work as a core. That not only told me that I could use it as a core but returned my email on a Sunday. WOW!

It will pump oil out if you over fill for sure John'' If you run oil level 3/4 up the window with out the tube the motor won't starve for oil or over flow. In your car with the long track times and a lot of turns this is how you should run it A 2nd filter is ok but i would rig up a catch can just to be safe'' i am surprised they don't require it on those cars. It shouldn't be a problem with the tube removed but never hurts .................Bill
