A little test and tune ..

Sticky and just nasty heat was the word for today ( 91 Deg % Humid ass hell ) .. Jesse with his stock wheel base zx14 was there as well as Teddy and Tommy .. Jesse ran some 6.20s , Jesse had sold his TiForce pipe and didn't have anything to replace it with so he bolted back on his stock exhaust ..He didn't even change the map ..Not bad for stock pipes .
Tommy did well on his zx14 and tossed down 6 or 7 runs all in the 5.90s , so he was pretty happy ...Teddy on his zrx1200 had his best ever 60 foot tonight with a 1.39 and then he smoked his clutchs and couldn't back it up ..But he did run some 5.90s passes before the clutches went south ..

As for myself a had good and bad .. After remapping the the 09 zx14 we found a few extra ponies ( 4 Hp gain ) Up from 173 to 177.62 ..After 2 passes in the high 5.70s ( 5.79 & 5.77 ) I tossed down what would be my fastest pass that i can remember in the summer heat on pump gas ... This time of the year anything in the 5.70s on pump gas is good so i was pretty happy with a 5.70 flat @ 123.30 .. I have gone faster this time of the year on MR9 and the old U4 Fuels , but to go 5.70 flat on 87 pump gas was pretty cool trick ..

Ok the bad part ... I'm still having problems getting used to the clutch grabbing harder with the change from Mobil One 10 w 30 to the Amsoil 10 w 30 .. I'm getting better but i really have to try hard to hang on the clutch longer with the Amsoil .. We are having a street night test and tune this coming Friday night . I think if i can get my clutch hand working we may see some 5.60s on the 09 zx14 ...

Smokin ..

Nice work! That is flying for sure. Hopefully Jesse can do better once he gets my old alien head installed.

On a different note, can you remind Jesse to send me the maps he has?

Thanks

You really catching up with the clutch hand fast Smokin. Hope I didn't mess you up with the oil. The 5w20 may be back where you were with the car oil, But better performance I think. Glad to see someone having fun. At least I get to read the forum out here though.

Hey Lee, how did those slips break down? Did you remap it with the autotune, or by hand?

By hand .. It was just a few small adjustment to Brocks no flys map ... The autotune do show the same adjustments needed in the same place on the map .. I added 3% were as the autotune was asking for 4 % to 6 % ..But i wanted to put it back on the dyno at the 3% and double ckeck before adding more fuel ..

I will post the time ticket later today ....

So do you feel the amsoil is worth any et or mph or just it just make the clutch bite harder?

Don't know if it added any HP , but it does make the clutch bite harder .. I think any of the syn oils of the same weight would yeld the same HP numbers ...I can see 0wt oils adding HP over lets say a 30 WT , but oils of the same WT # no ..

Brock map as stated above ..Dyno showed it to be lean at 100% throttle for 8000 up ...I added 3 % from 7000 to 10600 at 80 % and 100% thottle.. The autotune showed the same as the dyno , lean from 8000 up ..

This doesn't say that brocks map is wrong .. Temps and types of pump gas all come into play here ...Ask brock and he will tell you he hates pump gas because it's all over the place when testing .. Pump to pump and station to station you get different grades and end up with different A/F and HP numbers on the dyno.. That is why he likes to test with known Fresh race fuel .. I run pump gas so i will have to adjust to different grades as needed ...

Good Luck Friday night Smokin, We'll be happy to see your best with the Amsoil. Help us out, tell people where you getting that stuff and we'll keep it coming to you. When i'm worthy with more seat time I'd like to visit at your track to give me more of a push and better myself on the 14. Thanks

James

5.70s in the summer, I wonder what you are going to run when it cools down in October. Smokin you have the best 60/ 1/8mile times i have ever heard of on a non-drag bike.

I cant seem to stay under a 6.0. I have touched the HIGH 5.9s a few times but not consistantly. I guess i need more seat time.

Thanks for posting it, Lee. I wish I had a sticky 1/8th mile track near me. All of my very local tracks are what I would call "dangerous"...

I put down a little better numbers tonight ... Heat and humidity were the same as last time out but for some reason unknown to me the bike picked up MPH .

Best of the night was 60 foot 1.38
330 3.73
1/8 mile ET 5.69
1/8 mile MPH 124.27

I had a few runs in the 124.50 zone ...Some how i picked up a little more tha a MPH ...All my passes were low to mid 5.70s .. Maybe i'm just getting a handle on the gripper clutch using the Amsoil ..The bike has 900 miles on it now , so mabe it just getting broke in and making a bit more power ....
