1/4 mile crash
Went to West Palm Beach dragstrip tonight and what a horrible night for me. I did the minor oil pan mod with the low profile bolt and cut off the guard a few months ago. Well I launched like a normally do and wheelie (a pretty high one) well when I came down I smacked my oil pan and busted it. I could not keep it under control and tried like hell doing so but ended up ruining the left side. Guys, I weigh 145 lbs and if I smack the pan it can happen to any of you. Please take this serious and get the Adams pan or the Clems pan. I finally ended up laying the bike down at about 400ft mark and damn I am sore as hell. It sucks having a brand new 09 and doing something stupid to F it up.

Sorry to hear this ..The bike we can fix..... Hope your ok , did you get checked out ?? I still have a few odds and ends left over fron an 06 i parted out ..Make a list of needed parts and we will see if we can fill it ..

I actually was going to go to the track tonight and try a couple of nitrous shots..
Do you have any photographs of the bike...
I have a bunch of parts and I live in West Palm Beach also...
I'm thinking about parting one motorcycle out...
Do you ride on Sundays on beeline?

Yes,
I am ok no broken bones just bruises and a sore ego! Thanks for asking though. Here are some of the items that I need. LFT tail fairing, LFT upper and lower fairing, front fairing and a new clutch lever. I just ordered a clems pan for $265 so I am good there. One question is I have two gallons of MR9 in the tank which I will drain tomorrow but what about the fuel injectors and the fuel system how should I clean it out. I obviously cant crank it and run pump gas through it. Will compressed air work on the fuel hose???

I will post some pictures in the morning. I actually live in Melbourne and had never been to WPB to run before tonight. I did meet some guy on a 08 SE with a 50 shot. He was from Cape Coral and I think his name was John.

Better pull the tank and dump the mr9 , flush the tank with some pump gas ... If it were me i'd pull the injectors ( TBs ) off the bike and flush them with some pump gas .. The throttle bodys are pretty easy to remove ..
As far as parts i will look Sat and see what i have .. Glad you are ok ..

Was you wearing full leather? I know that they been kind of lenient on the riding gear at that track.
Did you break the clutch lever or did you bend it?
I should be able to snag a clutch lever for you..
Only belly pan I have is left side carbon fiber..

that has to do nothing for the superior male ego...sigh. Glad your ok I seem to keep er at a loft here and there after my mishap. I am curious... is a person "on the own" insurance-wise at a race track? mum's the word I imagine. I have a front fender sitting in a box btw, in perfect shape (10 mod)

Sorry to hear this happened! What is your setup on the front suspension? Are your forks slid up at all? Any preload on the forks?

I have the forks slid up 1" and then I strap it the rest of the way. I made no adjustments to the preload on the stock forks.

Stock profile front tire?
The reason I ask, is just to get an idea of what is really pushing it. My forks are slid up .5" with a .25" shorter tire. I back the preload off, then strap it, and then spin the preload down to tighten it up as much as possible.
I believe that when Bently broke his, he was slid up 3/4" with a stock drain bolt setup. Sorry if I'm mistaken, but that is what I recall.
Definitely something to watch out for. I think the short plug mod is worlds better than stock, especially for the street. But once you slide the forks up, you really change the equation.

Stock front tire and I agree with you that short plug is great mod and thought I would be fine due to my weight but........I was not ok. It did not just crack the pan but it moved the plug up quite bit and left a rather large hole.

Glad your OK Chad! Frame sliders can help out in a lot of cases. I have heard in a few rear instances when they have done more harm than good but for the most part I have seen a lot of plastic saved and untouched from crashes...............Just my

Glad you are OK. Hope the engine is not hurt from oil pan breaking. I have a clutch level
if you need it.

Usually If you tell the insurance it happened at a track, your on ur own..... Now if this accident happened anywhere else under normal riding conditions.( wink wink) you would be covered....

Glad you're ok. I hope people that drag race are reading this. If you are going to drag race (or lower your bike period), get the Adams or Clems pan. I see this happen to too many racers.
Once again, glad you were able to walk away. As unfortunate as it was, I hope it opens the eyes of others and prevents future accidents.

I agree, when you get lowering links get a modified pan. PERIOD.
You are on borrowed time with this bike lower and a stock pan.
Don't hurt yourself or someone else over $125.

I have yet to hear of someone crushing their pan having not lowered their forks in the clamps. Have you guys?

I sent you an email using the new email that you gave me and it kicked it back to me. Dont worry about the clutch lever though. I just put all the new parts on my bike on Thursday only thing left is the zx14 sticker and the ninja sticker. The new fairings come naked. Yes you did hear correct that I did not have an engine kill. (waste of money) The bike kills when it falls due to the tip sensor. Thanks for your generous offer though.
