Burnouts and powdercoating

Stupid question I know ,but I'm getting a new tyre and have always wanted to do a burnout till the tyre pops.
It is a shinko U/S , do you not recomend this, will it damage my rim?
By the way since the wife wont let me get BST rims , I'm getting it powder coated black while it is off. I hear alot on here have powder coated the stock rims, do you get it done over the factory finnish or do they have to be prepped in any way?
Thanks guys

When the steel cord comes off the tire and smacks you in the back of the head then you can ask me if that was a good idea ...

DONT DO IT! I did it on my 636 and when the wires come out of the tire they wrapped around the rim and scratched the rim, tore my stock chainguard completely off, tore a handful of orings out of my chain, and somehow scratched the paint on my tail. Did it in 2nd gear. If you do it, stop as soon as the tire stops!!

i've stripped the finish, and i've blasted before. blasting is the easier way. stock coating comes up real easy.

I forgot about this video I made. I picked up a nail in a dunlop 211 gp tire, so I burned it. No popping it, but I got it so hot it the carcass was bubbling. Fun experience for SURE!!!!

So, you are saying you think it is a good idea, but with some minor reservations?

Its fun to do with a new tire, but doing it til it pops, that's one of the dumbest things I've ever done... As in I won't do it again

The devils got me , getting whipped with those steel belts sounds like as much of a turn on as popping the tyre!!!!

Not all tires will have the cords go wild. With that, I don't know what tires do and don't. I've seen plenty of tires just simply pop and be done. Only seen one that the cords made a serious mess and that was a Metzler Z4 (older type).

Video is a MUST though.

If you are going to powdercoat your wheels, take the wheel off, remove the bearings, remove the tires, remove the valve stems. Tell the coater to make sure to mask off the bearing cups and anywhere a brake rotor comes in contact with the wheel BEFORE blasting the wheel, and NOT to coat those area's.

So if you hear it pop or get smacked by a cord around the neck just back it off ?
Video coming.
Thanks for the blasting and powdercoating tips.

Light it up, lol. I'v seen three tires burnt to pop and they just split down the middle. Stop spinning as soon as it blows and you should be OK.

I see you'r in Australia. If you are anywhere close to Rockhampton look up my buddy Mike, he just moved there and he know how to fuck up a bike tire realy good, lol.
