synthetic brake fluid

anyone used synthetic brake fluid. i just replaced fluid with valvoline synthetic DOT 3 & 4 brake fluid.

also filled the coolant with any color 50/50

if you had bad experience with these let me know. i am having hard time finding DOT 4 only at PEP boys and autozone.

PEP boys and autozone is fine, and cheap. If you want the best and are willing to pay for it, this is the one to use. it deals with more heat before fade. in the mountains or on track days you won't experience brake fade as fast.

so it is ok to put synthetic DOT 4 in zx14. ?
MOTUL just like Valvoline is for both DOT 3 and DOT 4. except the boiling points. MOTUL is little higher 617°F / 325°C

that "little higher" is what makes the MOTUL cost 3 times as much

Been using Valvoline in everything for a couple years without any issues. Haven't cooked it yet but if I do I'll try Motul. It can also be mixed with regular dot 3-4, but I'd flush the system completely.

What I was told about the Valvoline is that it is DOT4 but they list it for both 3 and 4 because any system that takes 3 could also opperate effectively with 4. 4 should give you more hard braking before the fluid boils.

I once heard DOT 5 will leak from the 14 so I'd stay away from that stuff.
