launching
hey how many of you are actually using the launch light on the14?. do you have to set it every time?. after racing the 12 for years and having less torque i find myself having a difficult time finding the sweet spot on the 14. i'm either coming out too soft or i'm breaking loose and blowing races.60 ft. have started to tank. cant seem to get back to good 60ft numbers. all advice is needed and appreciated. thanks

I have my light set at 4k. I'm stock wb and I'm pretty consistent so far. My 60' times are slowly dropping. This season I've been 1.69-1.72ish.

that thing is garbage... just pre-stage, set your rpm, listen to the tone and keep it there as you stage the second set of lights. The light will allow fluxuation and still stay on. I stage at 4-5k, slide the clutch and try to be full throttle by the tree. It takes some getting used to but it nets me 1.5-1.6 60fts and that was with a 16t front sprocket. Once i gear back up i should have less wheelie problems and my 60/330fts will improve. all tracks and all riders are different. All I can say is make a couple hundred passes this year and figure out what works for you. Seat time is the only thing that's going to make a difference.

If you haven't done so already, you have to go into the setup system and turn it on, just hold both buttons on the dash for about 3 seconds to enter setup.

If your tachometer works but shift/launch light does not (and it is turned on), something is faulty inside the instrument cluster in the driver circut for the lamp (or the LED itself).
Has it ever worked?
Try setting the Shift Light to come on as low as it goes (7K RPM i think) and see if it works as a Shift light.

Too hype, I c someone is practicing, lol. I just took my 12 to the track last sunday at delmar, 1rst time in 7 years n it showed. Only ran 10.23 out of 4 passes. First pass was a 10.37 n shaved time every run aftewards. They say the 240 is slowin me up bad, but i think the 60 is killin me, cause she is only 2 teeth up n the back n dies out the hole as soon as i let all the way out of the clutch. 1.66 60s, only 134 in the 1/4. If she doesnt die out the hole i think she will run a high 9. Thinkin bout putting 5 more teeth up in the back since i cant change the front due to the offset for the tire kit. She wont die then, just have to worry bout wheelies, lol. After i run a good 9, i will set it back up for the highway, lol. Just want to show that it will still do it wit the 240. a 1.4 60 would help too, lol.

the 240 is what's killing you. Extra unsprung weight plus tires that can't hold in a drag race. Right now your gearing is allowing you to get off of the line. as soon as you get some gear in there you'll start blowing the tire off. if you want to drag race, put a regular width stretched arm and a 190 U-soft on there. If you want to show put the 240 on it. Also, remember that the 12 is notorious for having a weak clutch (unless nox tunes it), and they're harder to get off of the line due to their lack of torque. That being said, 10.23 is still a respectable time and will outrun 80% of the bikes out there. If you're pulling 1.66's then you're already ahead of the powercurve for a lot of new drag racers. Seat time Seat time Seat time is all you need. Before you know it you'll be in the 1.4's.

He didnt run keiths busa, still got to break motor in, he had to get it rebuilt cause the starter gears got messed up n broke the cases. He only got like 200 miles on it so far. I just dropped in on the side putting a stock fender on for inspection. For got to put it back in gear after i put the stock header n pipe on. Messed the side fairin up n broke the clutch lever end. Now i got to fix it. After this i m done fixin other peoples stuff, especially if it cost ME money, lol.
Bawls, that pirelli diablo is a real sticky tire n should hold once i gear it down, but we will c. I gotta get a 9 out of it or the thing will b on EBAY, lol

It seemed like almost everytime I went to the track last year, something was changed on my bike and I had a hard time compensating. With the power that it's putting to the wheel, the stock wheelbase, and my 250lbs fully geared, I tried everything and was getting 1.8's. Now that my setup is the same I have found this to be working. I'm staging at about 5000. At launch I punch throttle about 3/4s or so as I feather the clutch. The instant my mind registers that the front is going forward and not straight up, I'm hitting full throttle. There is a lot of feel there, but it is working. I quickly went into the 1.7's, and now into the high 1.6's. Last time out, I went 3 straight high 1.6's, getting better, but then the track changed and it started blowing the wheel off.
