Hey Dan can you give us some more information?
How many miles on the bike, and how did it run the last time you rode it?
How long did it sit since the last time you started it?
When you say it will not turn completely over does it make a grinding noise like the starter is not engaging or more like a piston hits something and stops the crank from turning.
You could have liquid in your combustion chamber from a bad head gasket or oil from the air box. Have you checked your coolant level? Take your spark plugs out and see if it will turn over then.
I imagine there are a bunch of other mechanical reasons that could cause it to not turn over but it probably would have made a bunch of noise before hand, warning you of impending doom.
Good luck, and I hope it isn’t a big problem.

i only 3,000 miles on the bike, it ran great the last time i rode it but it has not been started in about 6 months but all gas was drained from tank and new put in and still nothing, it sounds like its not getting fire. i rode it about 2 miles with no exhaust on it. and i had a CBR and i started it with no exhaust and i fouled the spark plugs out and im wondering if that is what i did this time. all the fluid levels are good. i just stop riding it so i could put some miles on the cbr.i still started the zx up but just didn't ride it very much and now i sold my cbr and wanting my zx back running. i hope this imformation will help. and thanks for any of your help.

Ok, so the engine does spin when you hit the starter button but it won't start?
Check the spark plugs and see what condition they are in.
If they are in good shape, and are sparking when you crank it over then you might have a fuel problem.
I don't know how to trouble shoot the EFI so maybe someone else can help you out.

I doubt the plugs are bad at 3K. Does the fuel pump pressure up when you turn the key switch to the on position?? It should.

Step 1. confirm fuel pumps operation by switching key to the on position and listening for pressure up.

If thats a go:

Step 2. Pull fuel tank and check for a kinked shut fuel line.

Well i got my zx running today and it was possibly the dumbest thing ever.. apparently when charging the battery you need to pull the damn thing all the way out. the reason for my non-starting was a loose ground cable i have never had the battery out. so it killed my battery over a period of time causing my fuel pump not to purge or anything else working. but it is running and getting ready to add some parts to it now.
