But are you having to stay on the lever, or pretty much dropping it?

Wheelie,
What gearing did you have before 16-48 and how does it compare? (do you have to short shift first gear, do you cross the line @ the top of 4th etc.....?

I have been advised to try 16-47or 48 but It would be nice to have an idea what to exspect.
BLK ICE, I have autoshift, all gears shift with a 10,800 chip, shifts right at redline. top of 4th in the 8th mile. gonna check out 1/4 mile Thursday night, should be right about redline in 6th, Smokin watched my video from Sunday , he didnt mention anything about my gearing. He just gave advise on some other areas of my riding, im always willing to listen and try to improve. oh yeah, I had stock gearing on stock wheelbase before 16-48.

Wheelie, Thanks for sharing how your setup preformed.
I think I will give 16/47or48 a try.
In a post awhile back you stated something to the effect that schnitz racing was taking along time to deliver your sprocket. I'm going to need a new chain along with this sprocket. Do you recommend ordering the sprocket from Schnitz racing.
Let me know how it does in the 1/4.
Are you really leaving @ 7grand? If so, you are a hell of a rider.
Thanks for the advice.

I could never run that gear (riding the street) but I am definately curious about it making it all the way through the 1/4.

Bently,

My experience is that 16/43 at 42" is tough to handle. Besides adding wheel base and/or lowering launch RPMs to make that gearing work, you can add a little more slip to the clutch by pulling a heavy duty clutch spring or two. You can also add a quart of synthetic if you are running organic oil.

That being said, if you run 16/43 at 64" I'd put money on you getting your 60ft down to the low 40's. In the last 3 years the only BIG guys that I have personally seen run 30's on a 14 (not saying they don't exist) were at 67".

BTW 9.14 rocks!
