New gearing sucks!

Is anyone else running 16/43 at 62 inches? I can't keep the front down and can't get the throttle pinned in first at all. went 9.38 went faster with stock rear gear. might go back or maybe go to 64 inches. And how should I set my shock up to help with the wheelies?

Go out with the rear wheel a couple more inches and that should help! I like the 16/43 gearing, but like was said, its up to your preference.

Can you run 16/43 on a ZX14 making almost 200hp at 62" long.

We all know that generally:
If you can't get WOT without wheelying you could use more wheelbase
If it spins you need more grip.
If you can get WOT without either of the above you could use more power.
The fourth thing that affects all of this is riding technique (or skill).

It's this process of analysing data and adjusting things that makes it so much more than just turning up and thrashing the bike.

Well stock rear gear got me 1.45 60fts and 9.14, but at this gearing and 62 inches I guess my skills are lacking.

Bently,

Did you try 16/42? 16/43 might be too much gear at stock wheelbase.

Well I'm 220 unsuited and could go 1.45 60fts with stock rear and 1 down in the front so yes you should beable to go 16/42, I think for now I'm going back to stock.

I weigh 210 unsuited and 16/43 and 44 will wheelie at 90% throttle. I think the stock shock is the limit here.

You can wot with 16/42 and still have some tire lift. Mine weren't high but it definately pulled the wheel a little.

somebody told me the other day that the front wheel belonged on the ground most of the time. and I told him why wear out two tires when you can save money and only wear out one.

Completely stock. I am not spending the money on an aftermarket so I will ride around my problems trying to optimize my clutch and gearing. I might eventually be back at 16/42 myself if these wheelies keep going into 3rd gear. I should add that I sit at 64inches, not 62.

Wheelie,
What gearing did you have before 16-48 and how does it compare? (do you have to short shift first gear, do you cross the line @ the top of 4th etc.....?

I have been advised to try 16-47or 48 but It would be nice to have an idea what to exspect.
