wd40,
I don't care if it needs a new chain every 2 years, the bike is clean, the chain is clean, the links aren't binding or dirt clinging to the sucka.

The wax seems to just hold dirt and gum everything up.

Klotz klr is what I'm using. Dries fast, very tacky with little to no fling off, very good nozzle, and unlike wax you can't overuse it.

Wd40 might work for some but it breaks down and replaced the oil in the seals, which is bad.

I agree thats why I was thinking about switching. the wax seems to just cling the dirt too it. after a 50 mile ride you cant tell i wiped the chain off at all.

it happens to everyone . I haven't had any problems with the belray, but i clean and lube my chain religiously. i used to run it on my banshee in the sand and the chain and sprocket still looked brand new 3 years and a few thousand runs later. some people don't like it because it's white though.

Is it alot like the lube they put on a new chain when you buy one?

no, it's a lot more tacky. It's hard to explain. Next time you're in a motorcycle shop, pop the lid off and spray some on your finger lol.

I ran that stuff on my CR500's for years too.
Its good, but still messy.

BTW, alot of ppl don't realise it but the best time to lube the chain is when its warm AFTER a ride, so it is drawn into the pins and rollers, and will set up hard before the next ride, that way much less flings off.

oh, and wax creates kinks too...
hey Bently, is that stuff clear?

For cleaning chains this is one of the best things I ever came across...

The review is accurate... buy a couple..the kerosene seems to deteriorate the brushes after a while,

I think the secret, whatever brand you use, is frequent and thorough cleaning to avoid the lube turning into a grinding paste.

I clean with kerosene, dry the chain with a cloth, check for any tight links and give it a good visual inspection, then apply fresh chain-lube.

My problem is my driveway is over 1/2 mile dirt (yes, I live in the middle of the woods) and no matter what I do with the chain wax, by the time I get to the end of the driveway, even creeping along, it still has dirt on it! With wd40 it dosent stick as bad. I just clean the chain everytime I ride it.

tried the wd40 when i ran out of maxima chain clean, kerosine, and lube. love it. took out all the rust spots, tarnish, and cleans like nobody's business. makes cleaning the bike much easier too. just bought a new can at wally world last week when picking up some coolant and rotella 15w. and dub is right, the chain doesn't kink now either!

I have always been a WD40 fan, used it on my much beat upon and road raced TL1000R chain, which had also been geared -1 / +3 which supposedly is harder on the chain. When I sold it, the chain was still in great shape with 15,000 miles on it.

I only cleaned my chain every 1,000 or so miles, unless I was racing then it got it before every outing.

WD and Maxima here.
About every 400-500 miles I clean my chain with WD then I go for a quick rip to warm up the chain and fling off any excess.
When I get home, I spray on some Maxima.
13k and my chain still looks like new.
I have a 700' long gravel driveway, too.
