New rear tire****************

My rear tire needed replacing and I waited a bit too long (metal belt exposed down the center).

I ordered a new tire, a Bridgestone,Pilot Power 2CT. $300 installed.

I hope it lasts longer than 4000 miles!

Mine is shot at 3600 miles. Do you guys recommend changing the front and rear even though the front is still good? Can you mix and match brands front and rear?

I have seen some ZX-14 with Pilot Road 2 on rear and Pilot Power 2ct front so they both were wearing at same rate. No burn outs and Pilot Road 2 will last 5000 miles and not be showing cords. They don't last 5K on my 14.... :-)

I've heard people suggest against it, but I've done it with success. I've had at least 5 different rear tires, and 3 fronts. No problems in 10k miles. In an ideal world, yes, you should have the same front and rear....

How many burn outs?? :-) seen them go 6K miles on hiway miles. Rears and fronts were about same wear with your set up. I have new Pilot Road 2 and wish I
would have got the softer front like you did. Next set.

I don't think you'll get anything to last longer than 4000 miles on a 14 if you use the throttle hard at all. These are just high hp bikes that destroy rubber period lol. I never get more than a couple thousand miles out of mine But I also twist the throttle hard all the time

I had better luck with the first pilot powers than the new 2CT that came out, I dont know if the center compound is harder on the pilot power than the new 2CT"s

Pilot Powers 2 CT is what I use on my bike.

Always good to buy 2 rears and 1 front- that should be good for 5-6 K miles.

I got it mounted and it wants to lean easier now and it was pretty sticky from the begining (screw that 100 mile break in).

Do you have any idea how slick that coating on those tires??? The guy that puts mine on anbd cleans it with something and sandpaper, and I still take it easy for a little while

I noticed too that this set of Pilot Road 2 were almost ready to play in the turns on the
first ride. But I did take it easy and got in a few heat cycles and scuffed them in.
BIG difference from the OEM Bridgestone, tuns Much better.

Tires have gotten so much better in the last 15 years. It use to take 50 miles to scuff in and scary when fisrt mounted.

You should have bought Avon Tires. They have a road hazzard warranty.
Same thing happened to me and I got a brand new tire for free.

And I love the Avon's, great grip and superior rain handling...

Unless the profiles match I'd suggest changing both.
Figure I aint throwing much dollar value away when the front still has miles on it.
Not worth the potential trouble a worn front tire can bring.

I've had the RoadSmarts about 2,500 miles. Look to last longer than anything I've had or heard about.

Great rain tire and sticks much better than Stradas. Kinda nibbly at the edge of traction. warm up quick !
Gonna leave them on for the summer and see how long they last on a big trip.

Dont do burn outs so I get better mileage than most.
My sides get as much wear as the middle....,hehehe

Damn I am getting old lol we are... but it just hit me on the profiles matching on
the Pilot Powers 2CT and the Road 2 not matching. I have seen several C-14 owners swap the two together and they claim the Connie worls great...think I will stay with both
Road 2 and not worry. I don't do many burn outs as does my freiend with his 06 14
with a Yosh and he gets about 6K on a set of Road 2. They stick good in the turns
my Chicken Strip is a Lot smaller after the trip to the Ozarks. But I need a new front fender as I stayed too close to him going up the mountaIn and sand from his rear tire pitted my fenders paInt. Worth ever cent had more fun going up and down the Mountain. It will make
a smoother rider out of you that is for sure. Have fun on your trip Old Guy, take pictures..:-)
