Rattle @ start-up
Whats the 1-2 sec rattle i hear at start-up on a cold bike? (my bike)

Cam chain tensioner...normal. Mine seems to have gotten better with some miles.

Yup,mine does it too...everytime!!
Is there a solution to this?
I have the Conny tensioner....but you need to pull the VC off to install it....lots of work.

Install a APE manual cam chain tensioner pn KTZX14.
Although you will need to periodically adjust it manually every once in a while.

well thats better, i thought maybe i needed thicker oil, like it was rattling until the oil circulated

There is nothing wrong with the cct. Just makes a nasty sound, that's all....

I hate that noise! Sometimes it rattles for a while and i gotta wait before i can take off. But that doesn't happen too often so im good

10,000 miles and my zx14 rattles for about 1 sec on cold starts.

I have a cure available. I modify an OEM Kawasaki spring loaded CCT (it's not a modified zx12 CCT either), it's also no maintaince, no brainer part.

OK I'll bite. Could you please give us more details. If this is a cure how much for one?
I hate the nosie, I have looked and how the oil flows and still wonder why. My friends 06 has almaost 20,000 miles on his and no problems but it still does it every time on start up when engine is cold.

I'd be happy wit a little 2 to 3 sec noise, my 12 sings like a rattlesnake, lol
