Gear Shifting
Okay, I am aware that shifting a 14 can be a noisy endeavor, but I just switched-out my oil to the Rotella T synthetic and now not only is my shifting louder when clunking down into 1st but it's much louder in other gears as well. I expected the shifting to be quieter and smoother once I made the switch. Does it take time or did most people find this improvement to be instantaneous?

I have 1756 on mine already. Are you saying I just need to be patient? I just want to make sure I don't miss anything.

I have nothing good to say about Rotella.
I believe in Red Line 10W40!

At the risk of starting a long discussion, I do not and most likely will not use synthetic. Due to my friends, and my own experiences. i cannot say there is really anything wrong with it, just worth the cost to me. My bike was much nosier while running it. Some others have had same experiences. This was with different brands also.
The few hp it is supposed to gain, not talking about 0 weights and such, just is not an issue for me.
Having said all that, you probably do not have anything major to worry about.
Just my 2 cents.

It does seem to help to rev it to 4000 RPM+ when shifting. I really am disappointed in the way my 5k mile 14 shifts. I don,t think it's the oil type.

Mine shifts great, but found it took time to loosen up.
I think the slight back cut is what people don't like, makes it feel notchy sometimes, but it is one hulk of a piece compared to the busa tranny... one tough big SOB
I haven't heard of anyone breaking them, and only a few who didn't really know how to powershift... meaning they weren't rolling off the throttle, and didn't have it preloaded slightly before chopping fuel.
If you get it backwards, its really hard on any transmission
They all will shift better at higher rpm, the cogs intermesh better, unless under power.

I changed to Rotella due to the advice from the people in this forum but I think I may try going to Motul for my next change or simply going back to the regular oil. Honestly, I am going to change my oil frequently so I should not have anything to fear. I rode a lot today, and the sounds of the clutch did not worsen but it did not improve either. For now I am going to just enjoy the bike and hopefully the clutch noise will decrease in time as people mentioned. By the way... Brock's pipe flies out ROCKS!!!!

Many owners reported increased cam chain noise upon start-up when switched to Rotella. If anything, this could be an indication that the oil may not be up to the task and I believe the 5W40 grade is just too thin for a motorcycle transmission.

My 06 shifts fine with no noise on start up, and been using the 5-40 Rotella since new. Have used it for years in the other bikes I own with no problems. To each their own, but I see no reason to change.

I have used Motul exclusively in my bike and I love it. I started with the dino 3000 til 2500 miles then switched to the full syn 300v in 15w50 and 10w40, shifts like butter. Have over 10500 miles on it now and it gets better all the time.
