bike pops out of 2nd

hey all,

i've been working on my 1/4 mi technique and i must say it's gonna take some practice. i have about 40 passes so far, the first 10 i was using the clutch. i worked on my clutchless shifts on the street and felt pretty proficient at it so most of the remaining passes were clutchless. now they weren't all perfect especially on those 30 deg track nights with numb feet. i don't know what the hell i was thinking racing on those cold nights. well the last couple times i clutchless shifted into 2nd, it would pop out into neutral. it's fine with the clutch but i don't want it to get ant worse.

so i was gonna get a shift star to help but am open to any suggestions.

also would an air shifter help or exacerbate the problem?

shift star should fix you lack of foot action .. An air shifter will only help ..Lots more power in the air shifter than your foot ..

Can happen but the zx14 is not known for that problem ... One thing for sure is if he keeps doing it he will have a problem ...He will tear the dogs right off second gear ..

+1
even though kawi has a mild backcut, they can still get rounded dogs.
The great thing about an air shifter is it kills power so it can enguage a gear completely, an with proper kill and delay, is much more accurate than powershifting.
Airshifters are great for the clutch and transmission!

Is the Dyno Jet Quick Shifter that plugs into the PCIII a toy or worth the $349.00??

I love mine , and over here the rules still count it as footshifting for streetbike class. Great choice , your black 07! The only thing I found was that the adhesive frame mount was shit . I bolted mine from the inside of the countershaft cover then clamped with two nuts to get clearance , I did this as the cover wouldnt hold a thread . 65 m/s and ready to go .

In second gear... Take off and keep it in gear. Now throttle up and hit the back brake to dyno-brake the transmission. This loads the gear and it if pops out = Tear down ~ Bent fork(s) and dogs to other cut gear are rounded out; plus the fork [tips] are burned pushing that gear in; that the tips widen; the gear floats out of the other dog gear is wag that tail > She pops out of gear. BAD DOG!

thanks for the help guys.

well that's good t hear. i'm thinking(hoping) that its not too far gone yet. i was considering an air shifter now it seems like a definite must have. i'll be instaling the shift star this weekend and see how that helps.

drag racing is addicting as hell on this bike. so close to the 9's and still all stock. i'd like to geta ninebefore bolting on any aftermarket parts but the shifter seems to be neccessary.

check the shift forks while you are in there at least. they are usually worn if you arent a perfect clutchless shifter. keeping them in spec will help your problem
