ZXBob et al. Pop off valve adjustment

ZXBob ... anyone.

ATP turbo and was told pop off valve was set to about 6 PSI 'stock setting'..

I noticed at idle today fair amount of air coming out of valve. Not stuck but at adjustment of when I got the kit and installed, and seeming open, screw out, quite a bit. Adjustor nut was tight as when put on

Can tighten down and air flow at idel stops... but how far (in) to go - how to really adjust so is at 7PSI = to actuator PSI?

If this is bleeding off PSI, I can only wonder what the bike will feel like with this tightened correctly to PSI. Adjust in all the way as air box is strong enough for a bunch of PSI, 22 and higher, and not to worry?

go for a test ride and watch your boost gauge if it goes to 9lbs you know you need to back it off ..

There's a lot of latitude with that screw. Turn it in a few turns and ride it. It's very difficult to watch the boost gauge when riding. I recommend a long open road, 2nd gear, at very low speed, and whack the throttle open.
That internal waste gate is not very accurate. I had mine dialed down to the lowest, where the nut was the only thing holding the bolt on, and still could get almost 10psi at times.

Just use good gas, and be careful. If you glance at the boost gauge, and its going up higher than you'd like, just let up on the throttle a bit, and press on.

4th gear works best on street on my set-up ..get to max boost with-out all the high rpm's

thanks all.

I guess that the valvue is supposed to be closed by the engines 'vacume' off the TB's... and that the PSI from the turbo has nothing to do with closing or opening it... !

turned it in till no arr flow at idle and then another two turns.

Re-did the AFR with Bazzaz for 12.5 and it richened up the mix from 3K to 10 K about 6-8 percent for about the entire RPM/TP range... so I was loosing some air. At 6-7 PSI it felt a little flat.

Will soon see how the new A/F feels.
