The one in the pic is a K&N filter. I let it run for about 20 min while i checked everything out and then changed the oil. I replaced it with an OEM filter and its the same situation.

I had the same issue with my oil filter. Just get the adjustable oil filter relocater from Exotic Cycle and all your problems will go away.

Any further developments? What kind of power are these 4mm strokers supposed to make?
Also, if you don't mind...what was roughly the cost of the crank work, pistons, and rods?

Ya last weekend i got the chance to actually take it out for a spin : ) street fighter sytle lol i only got the chance to put maybe 10 miles on it but it was sure nice to get back on it. Im not sure what it should be putting down because when i bought the everything not may people had gone with a stock bore stroker yet so not really sure what to expect. Ive ridden stroked out banshees before and well it wasnt the same getting back on my banshee thats what kind of made me lean towards the stroker for my bike. The few miles i did put on it i could deff tell its got a lot more power. I still have a few more minor things to take care of but other than that im thinking once i get 500 miles on the engine ill bring it to get tuned. No i dont mind tellin ya what i spent Crank work was $892 CP pistons $800 rods $920. Looking back i could have spend maybe $200 more and got some Carillos and saved some weight that way but...I know my neighbors werent very happy to hear that thing fire off lol im sure it sucks living next to some asshole with a drag pipe on his bike. Shane you thinking of doing some motor work to yours?

Well, before you know it, it will be winter again. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can, in case I do decide on some motor work.
Those costs aren't too bad at all!

Ya when i first started looking around Id go from company to company and when you get them bidding against each other you can save some money. They wanted $960 for the pistons, like $980 for the rods and almost $960 for the crank work. It made me feel better that i wasnt paying full price plus it paid for my main/rod bearings by talkin to these guys for a bit. I had some companys calling me back to see if i had made my mind up yet. Now they have blank balancer shafts and some others that id do if i had the chance to do it over again.

Isn't it also possible to use stock rods on one of these +4mm builds? I don't know how strong the stock rods are; but the 12R rods were pretty stout pieces.

Ya i looked into that route also and some people use the OEM rods. They are known for being very strong rods. I had a rod that was toast and the only area that was of a concern to me was the fasteners so i decided to go with aftermarket. My OEM rod was 408 grams and i think a knife rod was 396 grams. I just figured if i was going to put that much into the bottom end then i should do it right and have a solid platform to begin with.

I had a few issues that i took care of but other than that ive only got about 50 miles on the bike so far been really busy with everything else. One issue is the OEM battery seems small as its a bit slower to crank. I pulled up to a gas station to fill it up last week. Went to get back on it and it would just crank VERY slowly and didnt start. I didnt know what was going on. Pushed the bike to the side to check everything out and tried to start it again and same thing. Let it sit for about 5 min and it fired right up. It does that all the time its like it gets heat locked and the bat doesnt have enough to spin it fast enough. Anyone heard of this with a stroker? I know if you bore and stroke them you gotta run 2 batterys but... Other than this problem it is running strong and im going to change the oil again at 100 miles and bring it up and put it on a dyno to get it tuned once i get some miles on it as the map i have now is fat so.... Is 500 miles enough to put it on a dyno or should i wait till 1000?

Thanks now i got the question on my mind about the longevity of the motor and strokers on the street but we'll see. Ill make sure that i post all the info once i take it to get tuned about what it puts down and see if i cant get a few videos. still got a few things i want to put on before then like an ignition advance plate so i can add a few degrees and a lock-up. Think im gonna look for a batt with a few more cranking amps and see if thatll solve my problems.

Strokers don't like advance so i'd skip that part ...Fact is you may pickup HP with a few Deg of retard ...Advancing it will make it even harder to start ...

It would be worth testing , if it doesn't cost to much i would give it a shot .. If nothing else it would be easier on the starter and battery ..

My dad had his own shop for about 15 years where i worked with him a lot on everything from motors to paint and everything in-between. Weve rebuilt a fair share of motors in his shop but ive always been into 2 strokes. Ive built motors for sleds and banshees but this was my first bike motor.
