decel pop 2007 zx14
about bike:
got used 2007 zx14 with 3k miles. 4 in 1 yosh full pipes, power commander 3, dyno and bmc air filter. bike has deceleration popping even with dyno. so how do i fix this problem cheap. is it possible to manipulate pc 3 or do i have to take to dealership? however dealer did tell previous owner that this is normal and not to worry.
i did some research some say it is not a big deal to have decel pop - doesn't hurt the bike.
so please help -

Won't hurt anything, but if you pull the rubber hose out of the bottom of the airbox....it goes to the switching valve on the head...and stick a marble in it then th pop will stop.....or pull the electrical plug on the switch.

Call Ivan he has a TRE that will stop that. Works on my 07 with fly's out.
You will loose you gear indicator. Mine shows N all the time. Hey I can
count to 6 :-) Heal Tech has a X-TRE that is more $$ but I was told the
gear indicator worked with it. Call and talk to Ivan before you spend $$. Some
say the TRE will cost you a tenth in the 1/4 mile if you drag race. Mine is a
street bike and it runs Great, No popping and Ivan has a Yoush map to go with this TRE
that is Smooth. My friend has a Yoush TRC system and a TRE on a fly's out 06.
Runs Smooth and Fast with No popping , he purchaed his Yoush and TRE from Ivan and runs Ivans custom map. The popping will not hurt anything I just don't like it.
Good info Ninja 14 is this valve and plug above the head pipes? I have Muzzy block off plates but did not use them. Left the emmisions alone.

Bike was dynoed - that should have stopped all the popping.
if it doesn't hurt the engine (like ninja14 states), i will just leave it the way it is. however i have heard conflicting stories regarding this too.

I don't think popping burns valves or pistons, but it will burn the packing material more quickly out of the muffler.

After adding the Yosh 4-1 and powercommander mine also pops at decel around 3500rpm. Fuelmoto.com where I got the powercommander said that its no big deal and will not cause any damage. They said you have to plug some hole in the air box to stop the pop. Gotta lift the tank to do that so I can live the pop.

This again ? The decell pop at 3500 is the fuel coming back on ... The factory cuts fuel on decell till the engine hits 3500 .. It's normal and hurts nothing ..Ivans TRE puts the bike in a N map that doesn't cut fuel , so no pop... Plugging the tube in the air box will stop pops at other RPMs but will do nothing for the 3500 pop ..

Why not just adjust your map? less gas at 3500.

thank you everyone - seeing everyone's replies was better then taking diazepam (past few days this has cost me considerable amount of worry - and i have already put in thousands of dollars aftermarket ).
conclusion there is nothing wrong with it and i am not going to fix it.
special thanks to smokinzx14 for giving clear explanation that made sense

Been a while since I've thought about TREs but I remeber seeing some folks had just pulled a few wires and put a resistor in and it did the same thing a TRE does. It costs 32 cents instead of $60. One guy said the wires just pull out. You can plug 'em back if you don't like it. Wish I still had the pics.

I just put on a street-meg on an 07, the pop sounds good to me.
Bike runs stronger and has the sound to match.

I believe the air injection at the head (actually get injected into the exhaust port) causes the popping and I think that people make a block off plate to use on it after removing the tubing to the head. In any case, the popping is from fresh air entering into the exhaust reigniting the un-burnt fuel. That could be a likely reason that aftermarket exhaust do this because of the looser fitting pipes with there slip joints.
I had that issue on one of my other bikes.

Reread what Smokin posted about the popping.... This IS what is making a popping at 3500. Muzzy makes Block off plates and you can plug the tube but at 3500 when you let off the throttle it will still pop. Unless you install the TRE or find the wires and know what resistor to purchase.

Same here, I had the pop after installing my new Yoshis, drove me crazy. I used Ivan's flies out specific TRE006a and his map and the bike runs awesome with no pops, justa sweet rumble when you let off the throttle now. I'm not sure if you lose a tenth in the quarter but it sure pulls like a freight train. You do the lose the gear indicator but who cares, I don't have one on any of my other bikes and if I'm looking at the gear indicator my heads down in the cockpit...good way to get run over in traffic.

C'mon Rook, don't be such a cheap skate, it's only $49, I can't buy dinner for two at Applebee's for that and besides it looks a lot more professional to plug in the TRE than to hack into your wiring harness and solder a Radio Shack resistor in there. That sounds like something the Hubster would do.

I just installed the TRE-006 on my 08. The only time I see N is when I'm in neutral. All other times my display is just blank. Is this normal or should I be seeing N in all gears?
