Took my boy for his first ride!
Well took my son for his first ride yesterday it hit 69 degrees here or normal high is in the 30's for this time of year. he is 16 months old and loved it. we just went around the block in my addition a couple times. he made motor noises the whole way. cried when I dropped him off so I could go for a few miles down the highway. ended up putting about 60 miles on yesterday and today. track opens in 7 weeks!

Man
I will never forget my first ride....
Dad had a 74 XS650, candy red and white scallops on the tank, an quite abit of chrome...
I remember....
I remember...
the wind in my face
the sun in my eyes
the chrome spokes reflecting on the pavement
the yellow stripes flashing by
hanging on to the handle bars
the torque on my neck with each gear change
the sound and vibes of the motor
watching the tach swing through each gear shift
and the speedo climbing....
I was hooked for life.....
You know he is hooked for life now too right?

I can remember going for a ride on a katana that my dad was borrowing from the suzuki shop when I was about 4 years old. He put me on the seat in front of him and took off down the road. Looked down and he was running waaaay too fast so we went home lol.

Thank you for that vivid picture of childhood. I like that a lot, dub.
Wish I could say my first experience was as good. My butt was not centered on the passenger seat. As my dad slowly rumbled along, I slipped farther and father until over the side I went. I don't recall any injuries. Good thing he was going slow. I can barely remember the event but I think it did happen. I wouldn't ask my dad about it now cause I think it might embarass him.
Everyone make sure your baby is on there securely if you try it. Having them in front of you seems safest and I'm sure it's a no-no to strap passenger to rider, but for a small child, I think that's what I'd do.

I get all choked and happy at the same time when I think of it.
It is one of the very best memories of my life...and my father.

My daughter was the same way. First took her at the age of 2. She also cried when I took her off. Now she just made 4 last Thursday and before I take her for a ride, she has to be the one to start the bike and hit the gas first.

Ya he's hooked, I think he was long before the ride. he has all kinds of toy bikes and plays with them the most. It was a proud moment for me. luckly I have a wife that understands and does not say anything.

I remember my first ride. Dad dumped the bike in the dirt and I cried. I think I was in kindergarten.
