How often should you replace your chain?
Also I've read that the stock chains have O-rings.
What is the purpose of them?
Which aftermarket chain do you like?

The O-rings seal in the grease, extending chain life and lubrication intervals substantially.
I have a DRZ-2 chain with no o-rings...but that's because my bike is 98% for racing.

There is no question that a non o-ring chain will wear rapidly if you lubricate it at the same intervals as an o-ring model.
Non o-ring chains are a very poor choice for the street. O-ring chains have the rollers permanently lubricated via the sealed in grease.
Non O-ring chains are naturally dry as a bone.

Yes I am aware of that, But some may say a non sealed chain is the way to go if you want to free up a bit of power from the o ring friction. And "permanently lubricated" Well thats kinda true...

I am running non o-ring for the supposed loss of friction, as you mention, and the tremendous strength of the chain (DRZ-2).
Keeping the chain clean and lubricated is very intensive, however.

I have 21000km on my stock chain and it is still in great shape. I found that it stretched the most during the break in and up to 1500-2000 km.

Shane or anyone else, I've been thinking about no-ring chain for top speed runs, do you have any data on how much power DRZ-2 saves compared to O'ring chain at say 180-200mph ?
thanks.
