40 shot dry nitrous questions

Well Im nearly ready to purchace ,just a couple of questions first. Should I put an in line nitrous filter on? Do I need to be able to purge the system? How much "spray time" before I should change the oil? Can I get away safely without 2% retarted timing? Should I do a nights test and tune and then read the sparkplugs ,and change/ adjust if neccessary ,or should I go different from the start? Is it OK to spray during the quickshifter kill time? Im a nitrous virgin but this site has given me some great knowledge!! Getting a lot of bits back from the powder coaters this week, because we all know the more black the better it launches!!! Thanks from Mackay,Australia.

I wouldn't worry about a filter.
It nice to be able to purge, but isnt 100% needed.
I change my oil after i day at the track, oil is cheap, engines are not.
timing will depend on fuel.
test and tune isnt a bad idea, being able to read the plugs at the track would help more.
I wouldnt spray during quickshifter kill time.

I'd also recomend looking into a set of valve springs and retainers if you plan on going heavy on the nitrous. Good fuel, and a good tune, too.

you dont need a purge with a small dry setup. i ran a full season on royal purple and sprayed big, (60 then 90) for a few wknds. my bearings looked great, so the oil was still fine. run good oil and change it after 4 wkds of spraying if you are feeling the need to change it. after a day is way over kill. for a 40 shot, run stock timing on 93 octane. if you can only get 91, take out 1 degree. its perfectly fine to spray during an air shift. nitrous doesnt burn by itsself. the quick shifter cuts fuel, so nothing is burning. you just have cool air being pumped thru the motor during that 65ms or so. stiffer valve springs are a good idea, but you dont need aftermarket retainers. run it a little on the rich side and go have fun. guys spray 40hp on the street and track all the time

+1 Put the high side of your face plate buttons on your P/C up all the way to the top .. Thats 12% rich on the top 1/3 of the P/C and run 93 pump gas and you are good to go .. I spray mine before the air filter with a nozzle in each ram air tube ....That gives it a nice soft hit and Mixes the n20 real good before it gets in the air box ..

Anytime you spray you should pull the plugs and check for spotting just be be sure ...
