Fan relay....where the hell is it ?
Has anyone ever tapped into the fan relay to manually switch on the fan? Living in S.Florida, it get's pretty damm hot. It would be nice to be able to turn on the cooling fan when ever needed but I can't seem to find the relay. The wires from the fan go to a 2 conductor plug, then into the harness, from there, it looks like it goes to either what looks like a tripple realy bank (just behind the tool kit) or it's the ECU possibly. I'd doubt that it's a relay bank just because of the amount of wires. This then leads me to possibly think that the ECU controls the fan directly and not via a relay.
Can anyone shine some light on the subject for me or if anyone knows an easier method please post up.
Thanks in advance.

OK, this is what I have found so far.
The tripple plug box behind the tool kit is a relay bank. The plug on the far left side is the fan relay. I ID'd the wires and it adds up like this.
Heavy green wire in is 15A fused power supply in.
Blue wire with a white stripe is 15A power out.
Brown wire must go to a temp sensor. It's open when engine is cold. This must be the ground.
Pink wire w/stripe is low current power in to trip the coil.
I'm warming up the bike right now to see if the brown wire get's continunity to ground when the engine temp is within fan operating range.
More to follow shortly.

OK, the brown wire does get contunity to ground when the engine is up to temp hot enough to turn the fan on.
Now I used a switch to ground out that brown wire going to the relay (to allow the coil to energize) and I have nothing. No reaction from the fan. All connections are good as are the grounds.
Time to dig a little deeper.

The bike wont run any cooler with you manually turning the fan off and on and the ECI is pretty smart about turning things on when they are needed.

What hes looking to do is be able to turn the fan on when the key switch is off, because the way its set up from the factory if the fan is running and you turn the key switch off...so to does the fan.
