Nitrous window switch

Figured i would share this with everyone. I recently purchased a dynotune nitrous system and got a single stage rpm window switch to go with it. I knew the window switch used a gear position selector. Well during the hookup, It had to be hooked into coil #1 Driver to pick up a tach signal, Then the window switch gets hooked into the signal wire of the TPS, Then it used a 12 volt relay that didnt come with the kit and a switch that didnt come with the kit no biggie. Well during the programming i thought to myself...I didnt hook into any gear sensor or anything. What the window switch does is counts the number of WOT to figure what gear positon your in. So to get it to spray you have to arm the switch under seat. have it programmed initally, say you input an RPM of 8000-11000 and Gear position of 3 WOT. It wont spray until WOT at 3rd gear , between 8000-11000 rpm and if you would happen to shift with a electric or air shifter between that rpm range i would stop spraying, because it would not see an RPM reading due to the cutting of clynders. Its a pretty nice window switch for $100.

You can configure a PClll hub to do that too.

I just wired up that same switch. so are you saying that it stops spraying only when shifting or completely stops spraying?

I called the techline and talked to them and from what he told me is that window switch has to see an RPM within the window you set, And WOT, if it doesnt see both those factors it stops spraying. so even though your shifting at WOT with a electric or Air shifter its not seeing the required RPM window so it shuts down. So once the coils fire again, and your at WOT it will spray again in the next gear when you reach your RPM window.

Basically from 1st gear on i'm always at WOT so if it only stops spraying during the shift thats ok.

yea as far as i know i would ask smokin its the same system he had. I didnt want it to spray during the shift due to filling the clynders with spray when the clynders were being cut out. The guy at dynotune told me alot of guys spray during the shift, but i just dont like the theory behind it.

I'm not as concerned about spraying during the shift as I once was...

Looking more at the theory I feel a little safer. The engine is a pump. It will keep pumping the nitrous out of the exhaust as long as the motor is spinning. It is not as though you will get a huge build-up of nitrous in the cylinder.

Also, realistically speaking...the split second that you cut the solenoid is not going to keep all the spray in the airbox and runners from being sucked into the motor.

Just something to think about...

Shane

Sounds like your gettin it done!
My muzzy system ( dynotune bottles ) never cut out, no problems at all.
I wouldn't worry about the spray, as Shane mentioned the airbox will be full when the ignition is killed anyway.

bouncing the rev limiter or getting excited and dropping a 50 HP shot at 5000 could do alot of damage... thats where I really like a window switch!

Dynotune has very good product and the price point is def. good!

Dubious when you ran the nozzles in the ram air tubes did you add a 1/4 90 degree bend to angel it back toward the air box? i know the ram air effect will force it into the air box but just wondered if you of Lee did that to get more into the air box?

Lee will have to answer this, as I used a muzzy nitrous kit, with the dynotune bottles and brackets.... sorry.

probably wouldn't hurt though....

yeah, second gear and it picked up 5-6mph and a tenth and a half at the time. That was before the Speedohealer and havent had a clean pass since to try it again(low bottle pressure in the cold). It might pick up a couple more mph whenever the weather warms a little. I dont have a controller but the 30 does not have a hit either. It is a Muzzy kit. Spent all the time putting the nitrous stuff in and have probably used it 5-7 times since June of last year.
You be careful with the 50 shot. That thing will rev so fast that the window switch wont even be noticed. I can hardly tell on the 30 because it revs fast too. If you havent used nitrous before you might try running 20-30 shot for a little bit just to get used to it and then jet up if need be. The faster revs will definately make you miss shifts.

That is correct I had my window set for 7000- 10,200 and shifting the bike at ~10,600
50HP shot

I had an air shifter Muzzy system, and it would shift right through the nitrous,
All it takes is the most minute drop in load on the trans... when the kill/ delay box hits i will still shift no problem!
