Anyone resprung for a heavy rider

I weigh about 270 and am thinking about putting new springs in the forks and shock for my weight. Any input or feedback. I love how the ZX-14 handles comparied to my stock ZRX, but i am wondering if it is a worth while add on. I commute, sport tour, and twisty road on my 14. thanks

been covered ALOT, almost every other week, but here goes:

The 14 SHOULD be sprung heavier from the factory, PERIOD. You will be amazed, and will stop bottoming out the fairings, if you respring it. Lots of choices for springs/rates, I went with Racetec through my local dealer were I bought the bike. They put me on the phone with them, I told them aggressive street use and my weight, and it was done. Rear spring is cheap, install is spendier. Front springs are spendier, install is cheap. My cost:

Front springs = $200
install cost = $120

Rear springs = $120
install cost = $280

Can be had cheapier online, and install them yourself, figure around $260- if you have access to a spring compressor kit for front shocks. If not, the kit is $75. Dont forget to set the sag etc. afterwards!!

I have 2 ZX6R rear springs that are 1 or 2 steps stiffer than the stock 14 spring. Can let you have 1 for cheap. I could also install on your shock.

I had to have my Forks and shock resprung and revalved. I took the forks off and sent them to Traxxion Dynamics, and had the work done. It took them about 3 days turn the work around. I actually purchased a second Shock off ebay for $35 just for this purpose. New set of fork springs will run about $109 and I would recommend having them revalved as well to maintain the range of adjustment with the new spring rate. You will also want to do a new spring and revalve on the shock as well or an aftermarket Penske or Ohlins. Having this done on my bike transformed the handling and really provides more comfort, feedback and confidence. Dudes name up at traxxion is Mike you can hit him up at mike@traxxion.com.
