I'd like to know if Gas MPG suffered from the cams. I heard gas milage drops a bit when you do cams, but how much?

I think that once you really start fixing a bike up it stops being practical and just becomes something to have fun on lol.

If you even have to ask about gas mileage when installing bigger cams, you don't need them.

i agree....i mean is mpg really an issue? heheh it costs like 8 bucks to fill up now! so i guess ima be the guinea pig and be the first on the forum with em huh? ive been looking at em for a while and just couldnt justify 1300 i mean damn..... but with my tuner adjustable sprockets and a remap and some cam timing here and there i should at least see 10-12 hp right? i havent even been remapped for my flies.... he ran a a/f ratio on mine and it was flat all the way to redline.... but im sure it would benefit from more fuel huh?

I dont think you will see an honest 10whp from any cam on the 14 alone.

You might get 10 hp with a thin head gasket , cams and a good tune .. Head gasket is only around 50 bucks so go for it ...

Yes i would pull the motor , it makes it so much easier to work on ... I have it down to about 30 mins to drop the motor out but i have done a few ..lol... It comes out very easy , take your time mark where your wires came from ... Put as many of the bolts you removed back in the spot where they came out , that will help you when you reassemble the bike ... Again it not a hard job , just take your time ...

Last I heard Cody was still having problems with Cams in the zx14.
I know this is not Coby, maybe needs a little research.

hi
i fitted bob carpenter bilet cams, with his spring kit and retainers. as far as i know mega cycle do the cams for muzzy and carpenter but just to different specs.
i also fitted j&e 13.5-1 pistons with a head port.
with the ignition module it allows me another 500 revs , and made 207 hp on the dyno
1500 miles since it was done and no problems as yet

hi
from memory bob carpenter cams and spring kit was a little cheaper than muzzy
started off with 187 hp , that was with power commander, bmc air filter, and ti force full tit system , so gained another 20 hp with tuning both set ups using super unleaded 97 octane

Called megacycle today, they make the cams for muzzy and carpenter. They are really expensive to make and not much demand for the 14.Spoke to a rep she was very helpful to me in making my decision.Whoever is interested in these cams,I woulld advise you to call before you buy!
