Air Shifter?

I was wondering what brand of air shifters you guys are running? And how was the install on it did you have to drill holes and where? I dont want to have to drill holes in the frame.

You can do the Muzzys, which is plug and play

there are univeral kits.

no need to drill into the frame for anything.

PM me if you need anything, I can help you out, I have installed different kits on the zx14 and I know where to get them

No air but I love the Pingle. Simple mount and easy setup. Lilghtning fast and works every time. Also shifts both ways. Nothing like grabbing a handfull of throttle and hitting the down button a couple or three times. No bottles to refill, and doesnt interfere with toe shifting at all.

i got the Muzzy shifter w/nos, i had never installed one before (shifter or nos) but i must say it was easy!! the whole thing didn't take more than 5hrs from start to test riding down the road... Ohh and it even still works yet today lol
i know there was a cheaper way to go, but i dont think you can find any easier or as complete to install

I need to check out that Pingle and see how it works. If you have the time, could you explain how it works. Because I'm tall, one of the hardest things for me is to get my feet up. I waste a lot of energy and tenths of seconds.

Holy Crap! I just looked it up and that Pingle is pretty expensive. Used air shifter is probably what I will be looking at in the future.

If you go with a muzzy air shifter can you still foot shift the bike if you want? And what are guys usually picking up with an air shifter? Ive been having problems making the 1-2 and keeping the front end on the ground, if I could leave my legs down a bit longer it would make things much easier.

Johnny sounds like muzzys shifter is the way to go. any ideas on best place to buy i see schnitz has them. As far as nos i think im going to go with the dynotune system that way i can mount air shifter bottle on the swingarm and 2-1lb nos bottles under the tail.

Racers thats my problem ive blown alot of runs due to not being able to get my legs up in time and finding the shifter, Im 6ft plus changing gearing so i figure then im going to have to get my feet up even sooner so it should be a big help

Masterblaster a little too much dollar for me right now im lookin at alot of upgrades this winter and dont want to drop alot on a shifter right now maybe in the future. I thought about a dyno jet quick shifter but my dealer told me they are a pain in the ass to get set up with the kill time but work good when finally set up.

Thanx Silver if i have any problems or questions ill get ahold of ya.

the muzzy is kinda pricy also. You can use any kit the install isn't really that hard if you have some mechanical know how. plumbing and 8 wires if I remember correctly.

Im 6ft and the best thing about the air shifter is the 1-2 shift. with lower gearing its a huge help. I ran 17 51 gearing my first season and really struggled to get my feet up in time. last season i went with 17 50 gearing but with a low ratio first trans gear (about the same as 17 51 in first i think) letting your feet stay down lets you concentrate more on the run and doesnt upset the bike. it can shift faster than a person can too. one of the most satisfying mods i did. perfect shifts every time (unless i hit the limiter or forget to turn the bottle on :P)
put the switching valve ON the air ram. then you dont need any delay time. start out with 65-70ms of kill time

Since most people have a Power Commander from Dynojet wouldn't the Dynojet Quick Shifter be worth looking at? It's built to work with the PC and no air bottle needed.

you can easily use the quickshifter as the kill box for an airshifter too.
unless mps changed their kill box i wouldnt use it. very hard to get an accurate kill time. its just a dial fom x amount to x amount and what you use is somewhere inbetween
the quick shifter can be set up as an autoshifter, and you can get a box from boost by smith to add an autoshift feature to a normal air shifter for about $60

I was always told no auto shifter! If you spin it'll try and shift and there goes the tranny

That's interesting. I'd like to know the mechanics behind that. A friend of mine has autoshift on his drag bike with no problems...it will try to shift if he spins...but no trans problems.

That's what I thought too. If the revs rise to the level where it's programmed to shift then it should shift. Is it any different to short-shifting when you get wheelspin, or is there a problem with it not being under load and then loading up as it grips?

Anyone?

as I understood it it would be like forcing a shift causing damage to the shift forks
